🏳️‍⚧️ AGAINST THE “DEFINITIONS OF WOMAN AND MAN” BILL - Image description: a series of text posts against various red-tinted background images of protests and marches for trans rights. Each slide has the header “international socialist organisation aotearoa” and body text in white. Image 1: Transgender symbol flag amidst a crowd at the National Trans Visibility March in Washington DC, 2019. Title: Against the “Definitions of Woman and Man” Bill. Body text: Following in the footsteps of innumerable waves of anti-trans legislature in the US and the UK’s Supreme Court decision last year, the coalition government ensured that, on 20 May, “Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill” passed its first reading. It is now with the Select Committee and submissions on this Bill will be accepted until 2 July. Ahead of the National Day of Action for Trans Rights on 13 June, ISO is making the following submission against this Bill – you can read it on the next slides – but it is crucial that, as well as submitting against this Bill, we join in solidarity with our LGBTQI+ communities to fight against it. Continued in comments. Text post with red tinted background image of trans symbol flag.

Grounded in values of freedom, democracy, gender equality, and opposition to all forms of authoritarianism, we affirm our commitment to the agency of peoples and condemn war, the destruction of infrastructure, and the loss of civilian lives in Iran and the wider region. We also denounce escalation by the Islamic Republic that endangers civilians. Our struggle remains for freedom, dignity, and justice for the people of Iran. We ask all who stand in solidarity to keep protests inclusive and focused by not bringing flags, symbols, or images linked to any political faction or repressive state, explicitly those of the Islamic Republic, which, for many in the diaspora, represent decades of oppression and risk misrepresenting the movement. Instead, centre the voices of the Iranian people and their fight for freedom, free from both external aggression and internal repression. Opposing war does not mean supporting oppressive regimes.  #WomanLifeFreedom

NO WAR WITH IRAN! - Image description: text post with background of red tinted image of aircraft carrier at sea and white text. Header text: international socialist organisation aotearoa. Title text: No war with Iran. Body text: The International Socialist Organisation of Aotearoa condemns absolutely the disgusting, warmongering, imperialist aggression against Iran by the genocidal US-Israel alliance. This latest assault, led by an increasingly overtly fascist Trump and wanted war criminal Netanyahu, is being touted by ruling classes across the West-aligned empire as “preventive” or “pre-emptive”. This farce is not only transparent, it is insulting in its laziness. Those beating the drums of invasion barely even bother to manufacture consent, while telling us plainly that mass death is the price that must be paid for US resource control and the violent policing of shipping lanes and oil supply. Moreover, the response of much of New Zealand’s ruling class must be seen for what it is: brazen imperialist propaganda. The ruling coalition government predictably forgoes any right thinking by condemning Iran’s response to the initial assault while ignoring US-Israel’s murderous slaughter of Iranian civilians (including Israel’s common pastime of bombing schoolchildren). Meanwhile, the opposition Labour Party limply equivocates between the assault on a sovereign nation in a relentless drive to war, and the military response of Iran against US military bases and the Zionist military occupation of Palestine. Of course, we are also not spared the pained rhetorical appeals to “international law”, as if this facade was not already drowned in blood by Israel’s genocide in Palestine. Continued in comments. Text post with background of red tinted image of aircraft carrier at sea. Text is in white.

Today, we honoured Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its signing, and we also took the message of the Iranian people to Waitangi Park in Wellington. Our aim was to engage with the public, and many stopped to read the posters, ask questions, and share thoughtful conversations. We are deeply grateful to our activist friends who, at such short notice, joined us and stood in solidarity with us. Together, we raised awareness among the people of Aotearoa New Zealand and drew attention to the ongoing atrocities committed by the regime in Iran. Make sure you come along to the powerful protest dance performance, a collaboration between Iranian Solidarity Group NZ and @crowsfeetdance on 21–22 February or 7 March. Please refer to our Facebook event or a previous Instagram post for more details. #IranProtests #IranMassacre #IranRevolution2026 #FreeIran #WomanLifeFreedom نه به جمهوری اسلامی

White footer has ISO raised fist logo in red on left, “where we stand” red text on right. Body text reads: socialism. Capitalism is a system of crisis, exploitation and war in which production is for profit - not for human need. Although workers create society’s wealth, they have no control over its production or distribution. A new society can only be built when workers collectively seize control of that wealth and create a new state in which they will make the decisions about the economy, social life and the environment. Continued in comments.
