PEOPLE OF HELJAM

Thank you to everyone who pulled up to train, hang out, help out and more. This event would be nothing without all the regulars and newcomers who turn up every year.

See you next year for 5 years of HELJAM!

SANDPIT

The Skatta Ruins is a classic Helsinki spot. The city is planning large renovations to the park, which might render the spot useless. On Sunday, HELJAM hosted a farewell session to the beloved spot.

Children participate through play and movement - our children’s pop-up spaces will return this summer in Helsinki, in Kontula, Meri-Rastila and Mellunmäki.

What this means:
🤸‍♂️ open seating and gathering for everyone
🤸‍♂️ more opportunities for play and movement along the way
🤸‍♂️ more participation which can be spontaneous and non-verbal
🤸‍♂️ skateboarding, scootering and even parkour
🤸‍♂️ open for all sports/hobby sampling to lower the threshold for trying new hobbies and discover new skills, for example with @skeittipaku1
🤸‍♂️ children and families becoming more visible users and “owners” of public space through staying and spending time
🤸‍♂️ collaboration with local actors and stakeholders, like libraries @kontulankirjasto
and community organisations like @meltsitalo

What can place activation offer? New ideas, hidden signals, and more. For example, in the first two years we explored children’s movement, which reminded us of parkour - and last year we combined placemaking with parkour together with @parkour.fi
