Fall term is underway at Portland Community College!

Our Bora/DAO/Curious architectural design team joined the Weeks of Welcome (WOWfest) tabling event at PCC’s 260-acre Rock Creek Campus to share the PCC Rock Creek B2 project, which includes renovations to the B2 classroom building and a new Building Construction Technology (BCT) facility.

The DAO team enjoyed being part of the campus festivities and sharing a look at what’s ahead for Rock Creek!

🚨 IMPORTANT COURTS 2.0™️ UPDATE:

Courts 2.0 is moving forward! 🚧🛹🙌

A massive thank you to everybody who has donated to help keep The Courts 2.0 on track! The support made a huge impact and has helped us in being able to move forward with construction to stay on schedule. Concrete work from @grindlineskateparks has finished and now the next step is to lay down some asphalt in the upcoming week.

Oh also… we got some granite for the bottom ledge. 🤫

More updates to come as we get closer!

AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! ❤️🛹❤️‍🔥

🚨 IMPORTANT COURTS 2.0™️ UPDATE:

We have hit a huge unexpected roadblock for Courts 2.0. @grindlineskateparks ran into massive buried concrete debris during the demolition that cost about $20k to haul away. This has thrown off our grant budget and left us short on the funds needed to finish the asphalt paving, the final step before we can fill in the space with ramps and community.

As it stands now, construction will have to be paused after concrete work is done on the steps until this gap in funding is filled. Leaving the space unfinished.

We are looking to raise $20k! *Any extra funds will go straight into building more obstacles & upgrading the space with amenities like murals, a basketball hoop, shade structures, & more.

GoFundMe Link in bio! Anything helps 🙌 *Donations can be given to @skatersforportlandskateparks 501c3 as well.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! IT TAKES A VILLAGE. ❤️🛹❤️‍🔥

The new Central Library at Stevens Ranch is featured in the July/August issue of @archpaper.

Designed as a place for everyone, the library reimagines what a community library can be—supporting lifelong learning through flexible spaces for reading, creating, collaborating, and gathering. From its mass timber structure to its intuitive organization and welcoming public spaces, the project reflects a vision of the library as a dynamic civic hub for Deschutes County.

Thank you to @archpaper for the feature!

Suspended over the main central hall in Bend’s Stevens Ranch Library is the building’s centerpiece, “Juniper,” created by @johngradestudio.

This massive 52-foot floating installation is sculpted from salvaged Alaskan yellow cedar and clear polycarbonate, taking visual cues from local old-growth tree rings and retreating alpine glaciers.

By using precise angles and tailored color temperatures, Blanca skimmed light across the contours, casting intentional shadows and filtering light into the concentric cavities.
