We’re keeping it queer this spooky season. 😱

Did I know what I was getting into when I picked up Chuck Tingle’s “Fabulous Bodies” and Raphael Monte’s’ “The Secret Dinner”? Nope! Maybe for the best because the horror is taking me by surprise and I loooove it.

Alright, follow @walkerthereader for more book content. 😎

PS: what’s on your spooky TBR? 🫡

Doing my due diligence to report on novels centering gays behaving badly, messily, etc. 😜

Not a comprehensive list by any means, so please feel free to share your recs! I’ve just begun working on a ‘gay behaving badly’ manuscript of my own and would love to add more published options to my queue.

Apparently it’s a slanted fro type of summer. 🤘🏾 And since it’s a HOT summer, why not read some equally hot sci-fi thrillers by David Koepp??

We’re *all* over it, so here are 7 books with characters who are also FED UP (or stuck in BS systems fed up with them). 🫪

- Jason Mott - Hell of a Book

Not me being a ‘pick me’ because a man recommended a book featuring surrealism! 🙈 What can I say? A trick got caught up in the moment.

Anywho, if you’re into mysteries (or thrillers), so yourself a favor and swing by @themysteriousbookshop in Tribeca. And while y’all are at it, can someone buy me a wick trimmer to tame my candles??

- Haruki Murakami - A Wild Sheep Chase
- Matt Haig - The Midnight Train

Why am I still surprised that bell hooks’ book, ‘All About Love,’ was the inspiration behind one of the best albums of the last year or so? I see (and hear) you, @oliviadeano.

Courtney Maum’s “Alan Opts Out” introduced an important topic (ie overconsumption) but the character tropes were shallow and left me wanting more (no pun intended). 🫣

Still! It was entertaining in parts and I actually feel like I learned a thing or two about pacing while I work on my own manuscript. That’s a huge win in my book (pun totally intended). 🤭
