This festival is complete but now we work all year @synonymartconsultation
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This will be our first September without our beloved mural and culture festival, Wall-to-Wall.

We started this festival over a decade ago to bring more art and culture first to the core areas of Winnipeg, then across Manitoba. It was a massive success and after much consideration, we wanted to shift to a year-round model.

So here we are, continuing to offer unique events and both public and private art commissions 365 days a year, thanks to our ongoing partners and clients. While we miss the adrenaline of a festival model, this feels like the most sustainable way forward for us, the artists, and the community.

If you’re looking for art, sound, and drag, you know who to call ☎️

"Li Dorrii," a celebration of the Walleye. This artwork, a bright reflection of the profound connection between Indigenous communities and our surrounding ecosystems, emphasizes the cultural and ecological importance of the pickerel—a staple in Manitoba. Symbolizing resilience and the cyclical nature of life, the pickerel's migration, especially its upstream journey, holds significance, serving as a reference to the survival and strength of Indigenous people and our enduring cultural practices.

This piece, and it’s creation process has meant so much to me, and is the greatest birthday gift I could’ve received. Maarsii to everyone involved💛 Go have a lil gander at 214 Main Street!

TW: drugs, overdose

This was my first time visiting MOPS located in the parking lot of 613 Main St. and I can’t thank these folks enough for welcoming me and allowing me to share their stories. It is a place full of love and the folks doing the work need all the help they can get so they can continue saving lives.

Meet Andrew: he shares some of his experiences and why he believes we need more safe injection sites. His story perfectly encapsulates why safe injection sites, harm reduction and places like @mainstreetproject and MOPS are important.

Andrew was such a funny dude I hope to chat with him again

And Phil: Phil loves his pop music. We had a longer chat but I couldn’t fit it all in. He had such a positive energy he had me crackin up the whole time.

During my short stay we witnessed an overdose which certainly could have been fatal had their not been somebody with narcan or adequate training on how to administer it.

In those moments I felt totally helpless but the staff were quick to act and follow the protocol. After three doses of narcan the person responded.

this experience really highlighted the urgency of the situation.

Witnessing the fragility of life so closely, the care shown by the people around, and then the normalcy of it all. If these folks aren’t out here doing this work then who is?

@sunshinehousewpg  MOPS

Manitoba’s first ever formal safe injection site.
Providing a safe, warm and dry place to inject drugs as well as an outdoor area where people can smoke.
Staff are on hand to talk and can supply harm reduction supplies (like needles, tourniquets, bubbles, condoms) coffee, snacks, and information about services that are available to them.
They also have test strips that can detect fentynal and benzodiazepine.

I love my people over @sunshinehousewpg please give them a follow they need your support

probably a little late to post this but better late than never!

If you swipe left passed my sweaty and sunburnt portrait you’ll see my first ever (almost) solo mural project, which was completed last month as a part of @walltowallwpg 2023!

The piece is titled “North-End Lights”, a play on words incorporating location and a cameo of our beautiful local aurora borealis, all being captured on some @donsphotoltd film by a cool-toned, night-sky photographer.

It was an amazing opportunity made possible by @synonymartconsultation as well as the great folks at @donsphotoltd and of course @c5charlie helped me out a lot whenever I needed a hand!

A huge shoutout to Chloe and Andy from synonym who organized this years festival and congrats on moving on up to a year round format in 2024! You two are amazing at what you do and so helpful, generous and just great to work with 🖤

Special thanks as well to
@buioassis and crew for the stellar photos, videos and drone footage captured along the way 📸
