Yesterday was a huge celebration of Australian cinema, with legend Peter Weir speaking to a packed Hub. He reflected on the singular rhythms of his creative process, the Northern Beaches origin story of his friendship with Robin Williams, and a near‑miss collaboration with Stanley Kubrick.

Premieres from more Australian talent followed, with the chic French Girls at the AGNSW, and the sexy neon-drenched Body Blow and engrossing Rodeo Dreams at Event Cinemas.

Plus the Australian premiere of If Pigeons Turned to Gold provoked a powerful emotional reaction.

Time creates character.
Bill Bleakley @wambleakley, one of Australia’s most sought-after video directors, embodies a dedication to craft we share – knowing that time, care and precision are what make things truly exceptional.

The director behind our Cloudbuster campaign film – a tribute to Australian bronc riding, captured in Mount Isa – Bill tells stories shaped by grit, real people and place.

10 years on, his pairs of Craftsman boots reflect his life behind the lens, shaped by experience and only getting better.

A good story takes time.
Time creates character, and for Melbourne director Bill Bleakley @wambleakley, that’s as true on set as it is with the Craftsman boots he’s worn for the past decade.

From red dirt rodeos to international film festivals, his boots have been there through it all – gathering character with every step.

Very stoked to shoot this little film for @rmwilliams about bronc riders for their new Cloudbuster range. Shot this two days after wrapping our feature doco on the Mount Isa Rodeo so was feeling peak cowboy.

Special thanks to Tommo from HV Power for bringing out a massive cherry picker for our high angle shot – that would be a very expensive exercise in the city involving many permits! Not in the Isa…

Thanks to Luke White for kindly letting us shoot at his property and imparting some old school bush knowledge in the voiceover.

Thanks to bronc riders Cade Fergusson, Hayley Coburn @hailzrose_7777, Luke Hanson and Hamish McClean. You guys are all nuts getting on broncs but have mad respect for how gutsy you are. Also cheers to Byron Remfrey @remfrey_89 and family for supplying the horses – beautiful to see how much he cares about these animals.
