One last class tomorrow! @stepsonbroadway
It's been fun to sub this summer! Not sure when I will be back at Steps or teaching this style class again. Come check it out tomorrow at 3pm!

Class starts with a very fluid ballet barre utilizing rotated and parallel work as well as spirals and weight shifts that expand the ballet vocabulary. I use all kinds of music. Think Prince, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Usher, Maggie Rogers, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Olivia Dean, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Ginuwine, Olivia Rodrigo, Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Eurythmics, Fleetwood Mac, Al Green, Kid Cudi, Lana Del Ray, Chappelle Roan, Dijon, Billie Eilish, The Police, Outkast, Madonna, Missy Elliot, and so much more! We then shift into the center with a contemporary ballet phrase. Class can be taken in ballet shoes, socks, pointe shoes, or barefoot. This class does not follow a traditional ballet center.

I hope to see you there! Class can be taken online too!

I will work to tag everyone in the video. Help me out by commenting and if you don't want to be tagged let me know. Thanks for capturing the video @gracidee

For founder @wanderer_dance ’s birthday, we’re looking back at her group work from 2017. Opia reflects on how it feels to be perceived but not really seen, what is left unsaid in eye contact, and the tension this creates between us as we balance between tenderness and destruction.

As weird 2025 was, here are some cool things that happened:
Rescued a dog (who very much changed my life)
Taught my very first dance film class
Taught my very first online history class
Set work on SRJC (a dream in the making)
Watched FCC go all the way to Jacob’s Pillow
Got a newer car
Saw Kendrick, Foreigner, The Weeknd, and Doechii
Choreographed my first play for FCC - got a good review of it too
Helped run Dance Expo for the 2nd year
Watched Aleño THRIVE
Created a cool ass cult 😉🔴
Danced in two pieces by people I admire deeply as artists
Experienced bingo for the first time
Met my first IG dance friend in LA
Took my first ever class in NY
Took my first GG dance intensive
Started my coverup sleeve
Read 19 books!
D.A.D.S - that’s it. That’s the line.
Visited LA more - fell in love with it
Watched my sobrino grow up so fast
Cried often and laughed just as much
Currently en route to take my first ever dance workshop in NY
And many many more things.

2025 was a huge learning year. Clear of the smoke and the fog and full of hard truths. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t celebrate the beauty that came from it.

For those who have been along this journey of a year with me - just know I love you so much.

Here is to 2026! May you get the softness you deserve.

Fun times dancing w/ these amazingly talented humans and taking in the natural surroundings, or How I learned to dance a 7-minute piece in three weeks even tho I’m not a dancer. Thanks @molissafenley for allowing an odd bird among the swans. 🐣🐤 💃🏻
