Last month I had the privilege of being in residency with @molissafenley at the @atlanticcenterforthearts for three weeks. This was such a meaningful experience to me that I still can’t quite find the right words. So many hours were spent in that sun-filled studio rehearsing group work as well as creating a new solo on myself. I’ll forever be cherishing memories of late night hangs, delicious food, and most importantly being in the company of other brilliant dancers, musicians, and writers.

When I turned 20, @project_agora told me to make sure I enjoyed my 20s and I certainly did in my own way. If much of the last decade was about trying to prove myself, I’m now able to enter my ✨30s✨ standing softly in my worth, enjoying with abandon, and romanticizing all of the little things. My 20s saw me realize my biggest dreams, leading me first 200 then 3,000 miles from home. Before I ever said it out loud, dancing has been all I’ve wanted. The reality has been better than the fantasy, even with the scenic routes and detours, even when sacrifices felt scary and sometimes isolating, even when trying to be seen felt exhausting, even and perhaps especially when I had to make my own opportunities when there were none.

Perhaps what I’m most proud of though is that I’m here to feel it all. As a child (and a triple water sign), the intensity of my emotions often felt as though they might consume me. Now, I’m able to move through them and feel without letting them control me.

The 3 year old that cried when she got her first pair of ballet shoes would be so proud of not just the dancer but the woman I am and continuing to become. by @wanderer_dance
