Ending gender-based violence requires all of us to take responsibility. If we want change, we must be willing to speak up, challenge harmful practices, and support those affected by violence.
As we begin a new week, let’s continue to do our part in building communities where women and girls are safe, respected, and protected.
Have a meaningful week from all of us at Gender Advocacy and Women Resource Centre.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or other injury to female genital organs, for non-medical reasons. It has no health benefits and can cause serious harm.

1. Lack of sexual pleasure: FGM can damage sensitive genital tissues and nerves, potentially reducing sexual sensation and causing pain during intercourse.
2. Childbirth complications: FGM can increase the risk of complications during childbirth, including severe tearing and the need for medical intervention.
3. Psychological trauma: Survivors may experience anxiety, depression, fear, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
4. Severe pain and infections: FGM can cause intense pain, excessive bleeding, and infections that may become life-threatening.
5. Urinary and menstrual problems: Scarring and narrowing of the genital opening can make urination painful and menstrual flow difficult.

FGM has no health benefits. Every girl deserves the right to her bodily integrity, health, and dignity.

🎀 OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! 🎀

HER HEALTH. HER VOICE. HER FUTURE.

This October, the Queen Precious Nwodo Foundation is raising its voice for breast health awareness, early diagnosis, compassionate support, and equitable access to cancer care.

Breast cancer affects millions of people and families worldwide. Yet, misinformation, fear, stigma, and barriers to healthcare can prevent people from seeking the help they need.

Throughout this campaign, we will be sharing educational carousels, health facts, myth-busting graphics, awareness videos, and practical information to help you make informed decisions about your health.

💗 Know the warning signs.
💗 Learn about your risk.
💗 Seek medical advice about unusual changes.
💗 Support those affected by cancer.
💗 Share reliable information with someone you love.

At QPNF, we believe that awareness must go beyond wearing pink. It must inspire knowledge, compassion, and action.

Your voice can spread awareness. Your share can start a conversation. Your support can make someone feel less alone.

Follow our daily awareness series, save our educational posts, and share them with your community.

Together, let us build a world where every person affected by breast cancer receives dignity, support, and access to quality care.

🎀 Every story is unique. Every journey matters.

She further underscored the importance of strategic partnerships, acknowledging the collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, New Era Foundation and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, alongside the support of the Lagos State Government.

“Sir, I want to go to school… but I’m afraid.” 💔📚
A young boy has been admitted into JSS1, but he was scared to speak up because he didn’t know how he would afford the things needed to start school.
His mother is no longer alive, and his father was considering taking him fishing instead.
Thankfully, we have started helping him with his NIN, LASSRA and registration process. 🙏🏽
But we still need your help.
🎒 School bag
👕 Uniform
🩴 Sandals
🧦 Socks
📚 Books
✏️ Writing materials
And sadly, his story is not unique.
There are children in Makoko, Okoagbon and Sogunro who are at home today—not because they don't want to learn, but because their families cannot afford the basics.
A child should not lose his future because of a school bag.
❤️ You can help us keep one child in school.
❤️ You can donate school items.
❤️ You can support financially.
❤️ You can simply share this post.
One child at a time. One future at a time.
Let’s give them a reason to believe that their dreams are still possible. 🌱📚
