As part of our activities in raising awareness this Sexual Assault Awareness Month, #SAAM2026 we are highlighting two simple routes to help survivors and their loved ones easily find the Centre.

At the Bloom Africa Girl in Bloom Summit 2026, WARIF joined Girl in Bloom @grlinbloom and other partners for the 4th edition of the summit, themed “Safe, Seen, and Heard: A Girls’ Townhall on Gender-Based Violence.”

The summit brought girls from different schools together for conversations on consent, recognising abuse, mentorship and knowing where to seek help.

The event featured voices including Our Founder, Dr. Kemi DaSilva-Ibru, Latasha Ngwube, Anthonia Ojenagbon, Founder of Tonia Bruised But Not Broken Foundation, Barr. Toyin Taiwo-Ojo, Founder of Stop the Abuse Foundation, Abigail Msemburi, Head of UNFPA Lagos Office, and Angel Yinkore, Founder of Welcome to Truth.

Through partnerships like this, girls are equipped with knowledge, strengthened in confidence and reminded that they have the right to be safe, seen and heard.

‎Boys also deserve safety, protection and to be heard.

Too often, conversations around safety exclude boys, yet they are also vulnerable to abuse; sometimes in spaces that are meant to be safe and familiar.

This is a call to parents, caregivers, educators and communities: let us pay closer attention, create safe spaces for open dialogue and break the silence around boys’ experiences of abuse and violence.

When we talk about protection, we must mean every child.

This is a painful reminder that abuse often happens in spaces we think are safe.

No child should be left alone with someone you do not fully know and trust. Boys and girls alike are at risk.

As parents and caregivers, we must pay attention to changes in behaviour, create safe spaces for open conversations and listen when a child tries to speak.

Protection starts with awareness.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT CAN HAPPEN AT WORK.

The workplace should be a place to earn a living, grow and contribute without fear of unwanted sexual comments, advances, touching or coercion.

Sexual harassment and sexual assault have no place at the office. No position, title or workplace culture should excuse unwanted sexual behaviour or abuse.
