In times of uncertainty, our communities rise together. This Saturday, CCC and a team of incredible queer and BIPOC artists claim our space, amplify our voices, and celebrate our collective power.

The first-ever Chinatown Ross Alley Zine Festival 華埠小巷手作書誌節 is more than an art fest—it's a declaration of our presence, our resistance, and our joy.

CCC has always been here, fighting to create spaces where our stories are told, where queerness is celebrated, where our collective power shines.

This Saturday, we invite you to join us in this celebration of intersectional joy and resistance!

Wasted Books attended the CODEX Foundation's (@codexfoundation) 9th International Biennial Book Art Fair at The Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center (@hjkcenterforarts) in Oakland on Monday. Imagine an entire arena filled with book-related stuff, all made by hand. It was that kind of paradise. What you see here is just a sliver of what bedazzled us.

Some cool people we met (and almost met) who are pictured here (in order):

1. Tabú by Bela Limenes
2. mystery person looking
3. More porn (in sonnet form)
4. Bela Limenes with Tabú
5. Codex Mexico, Fernando Ondarza
6. Michelle Ho beside her deliberately empty black box (@mmmichelleho)
7. We enlarged this picture and still couldn’t find Mr Romero in the catalog.
8. Anne Covell discusses her girdle book, In the Dark, which excises the redactions in the Mueller Report (@annecovell)
9. This artist reprinted an Obama speech onto t-shirts. The speech was lengthy, so it had to be printed on many shirts. Then she photographed people wearing the speech in order of its delivery. A cease and desist letter from the White House arrived shortly after.
10. another mystery person looking

Some cool people we met (in person and/or through their printed matter etc) but who are not pictured here:

Blanca Sotos (@marcablanca.press) has created Marcablanca, an independent space for resistance, reflection, and editorial production in central Madrid. It houses a community library and a printing workshop that privileges experimentation for artistic research.

Wasted Books is stoked to have its books join the resistance alongside other super cool collaborators in Marcablanca’s community library.

(It would be great if, for one year, all book covers were painted black.)
