The Smiths Everest is calling my name again… 👀 With the weather being absolutely rubbish today, I’ve decided to dig through the archives and revisit this beautiful Smiths Everest that my good friend @scarr_time let me get hands-on with a few months ago! There’s something about the proportions, vintage styling and sheer simplicity of this little watch that keeps drawing me back in. 🚨NWA🚨 Finally got my hands on the newest Lorier Hyperion! After attending their launch event in Brooklyn and experiencing it in person I was impressed with the changes made. Applied indices, better bi-directional bezel rotation feel, the changes to the handsets and on-the-fly adjustment are all small refinements that make the overall package feel more premium. Some may miss the acrylic crystal but I believe they’ve found a great way to replicate the warmth of plexiglass with the boxed dome of the sapphire. I am obsessed with this Tudor Black Bay 54! Since selling the Speedmaster, I’ve been on a bit of a watch hunting spree. From rare Hanharts, to neo-vintage Omega Seamasters, all the way to Seiko divers… I think I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole big time. 😂 Yet through all of the hunting, I keep coming back to this incredible BB54. Favre-Leuba is the 2nd oldest Swiss watch brand, having been founded in Le Locle in 1773, only two years after Blancpain. It’s a brand that’s got real adventure in its DNA too, with some very cool innovations under its belt. In 1962 they created the Bivouac, the world’s first wristwatch with a barometer for mountaineering, a timepiece that finally answered a question that is still asked in colleges around the world to this very day: how high are you right now? In 1968, they would reengineer that same innovation to create the Bathy, the first dive watch with a mechanical depth gauge. Of course, I didn’t know any of this when I bought my Favre-Leuba 24022-228. But you’re cool so we’re going to pretend like I totally did. I was just looking for a vintage dress watch because I’d seen one too many @goldammer.me videos and convinced myself that my collection wouldn’t be complete without a thin, gold, manually-wound vintage dress watch. I am still convinced, and I think it rounds out my collection quite nicely. To date, this no-date Favre-Leuba has been the most difficult watch in my collection to research, as I’ve found virtually no information on it. In fact, the only reason I know the reference number is because @captain_t_53 was kind enough to tell me. For #pocketshotweek2026, it’s nestled in the shirt pocket of the only white button-down I own, a shirt that this watch is most often paired with for weddings and the occasional date night. Oh and it’s also #fancywatchfriday and this is literally the fanciest watch I own. I’m fairly certain this one gets overlord @aviantime’s seal of approval.
