Wrist shot in an F-4D.

Outside of watches, I'm also a huge cold war era aviation nerd. The F-4 and F-105 are my favorites, so couldn't miss out on this wrist shot.

Abingdon Co. Amelia GMT

Here’s something you don’t see every day: a pilot’s watch from a company founded by a female pilot who couldn’t find the watch she wanted.

Abingdon Mullin started The Abingdon Co. in 2007 with a mission to make functional aviation watches designed for women. Named after aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, the Amelia GMT reflects that heritage with a second-time-zone display and a dial packed with aviation calculations.

And here’s the fun part: the company also created a scholarship program to help women pursue careers in aviation and other technical fields.

A watch with a flight plan—and a purpose beyond telling time…that this dude is proud to wear!!!

First attempt at an unboxing video, and I couldn’t have picked a better watch for it!

Finally got my hands on the Sangin Instruments Merlin — DLC Matte finish, white dial, and GMT bezel. This thing looks even better in person and feels incredibly solid on the wrist.

I’m also really liking the new presentation box. Compared to the old D3 case, it gives the whole unboxing experience a much cleaner and more premium feel.

Definitely grateful to have been picked from the waitlist. If you know Sangin, you know how limited some of these drops can be. The wait is no joke, but seeing this one in person made it completely worth it.

Now for the part I’m really looking forward to — getting this thing out into the field, putting it through some real use, and seeing how it holds up.

More to come on the Merlin 🤙

WOTD ⌚️
Glycine Combat Sub Automatic GL0399 on the WOE Bond Nylon Strap.

Been switching up the straps on some of my watches lately and I have to say, I’m really liking this setup.

The Bond strap works really well with the Combat Sub and gives it a more rugged, everyday look.

One of the things I’ve been enjoying about getting more into watches is seeing how much a simple strap change can completely change the way a watch looks and feels on the wrist.

Definitely think this combo is going to stay for a while.

WOTD ⌚️

Some watches just make you want to wear them—and the Glycine Combat Sub is definitely one of those for me.

Whether it’s getting dirty out in the field or getting a little time off for a round of golf with the boys, this watch just seems to fit the occasion. Rugged enough that I’m not afraid to actually use it, but clean enough that it still looks damn good doing it.

I recently swapped the Oyster bracelet for a rubber strap with a deployant clasp from Archer Watch Straps, and I’m loving the change. It gives the Combat Sub a sportier look, feels great on the wrist, and fits exactly how I like to wear this watch.

One of the things I’m starting to appreciate about this hobby is how something as simple as a strap change can completely change the personality of a watch.

What do you think—rubber or Oyster bracelet on the Combat Sub? 👇

WOTD (Yet Again) ⌚️

Funny how a simple strap change can make you fall for a watch all over again.

The Sangin Instruments Professional keeps finding its way back onto my wrist. Between the look of the blue dial and this NATO setup, it’s quickly becoming one of my go-to daily beaters.

More importantly, it’s a watch I don’t have to baby.

Normal workday or time in the field—I know it’s more than capable of handling what I throw at it.

This is actually my first time really stepping outside of the original strap that came with a watch, and so far I’m impressed. The NATO has been extremely comfortable, secure on the wrist, and completely changed the personality of the Professional.

Now I think I’ve opened a rabbit hole… 😂

What strap would you put on it next? Rubber? Canvas? Leather? Another NATO?

A handsome 43mm stainless steel Breitling Navitimer 8 B01 Limited Edition Ref. AB01171A1G1P1, circa 2021.

The Breitling features a brushed steel case, which is accented by a brushed bidirectional 12-hour index bezel with engraved units, and is mounted on an OEM brown alligator strap, secured by its original brushed tang buckle. The Navitimer 8 is fitted with a silver sunburst dial with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers, polished luminous hands, a date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock, and is contrasted by dark greyish brown sub-dial registers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The movement used in the AB0117 is the in-house Breitling Caliber B01, which can also be found in modified form in the Tudor Black Bay Chronograph as the Tudor Caliber MT5813.

Overall the Breitling is in excellent condition, and is a truly versatile watch, which is perfectly suited for wear on most occasions.
