Enjoying a rainy Saturday with this discontinued F.P. Journe Octa Divine “Clover Dial.” This is one of the more interesting Journe pieces with a freely rotating seconds disc, which I find extremely cool. Additionally, the NASA photo-realistic moonphase, power reserve and “big-date” day indicator add beautiful symmetry to the dial. Affixed to a Delugs Miami blue rubber strap, this is the perfect summer timepiece.

The Logical One feels less like a wristwatch and more like an argument against compromise.

Romain Gauthier did not simply reinterpret the chain and fusee. He re-engineered it. The ruby chain, composed of microscopic synthetic rubies linked together, delivers constant force with a mechanical elegance that borders on obsession. What was once a centuries old solution became something entirely contemporary.

The off-centered hours and minutes leave the stage to what truly captivates: the slow, deliberate breathing of the movement. Every click of the snail cam, every release of stored energy, every component finished to a standard that only a handful of independent watchmakers would even attempt.

The hand finishing is extraordinary without ever feeling theatrical. Sharp inward angles, black polished steel, frosted bridges and warm gold tones exist not to impress at first glance, but to reward those willing to linger.

In an era obsessed with complications and spectacle, the Logical One reminds us that genuine innovation often lies in refining a single idea until it reaches its purest expression. Bravo Romain!
