In this workshop, we will first create a network for generating a point cloud from a 2D image. Then we will modify that network to generate a point cloud from a 3D scan of a real life object. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a flexible system that you can continue to expand and customize.  No prior TouchDesigner experience is required. Just bring a laptop with TouchDesigner installed (the free version is sufficient). [Link in my bio]

PARADISE WAS FOUND… Every month, we choose one film and build an entire sensory experience around its world. And for our first one, we chose The Beach. Danny Boyle’s 2000 cult classic — from the same director who gave us Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. And if you know those films, you know Boyle has always understood the power of an incredible soundtrack. The Beach is no exception. Its music was scored by Angelo Badalamenti and supervised by Pete Tong, with original music from Orbital and New Order — and, of course, “Pure Shores” by All Saints, produced by the late great William Orbit, which soundtracks that sexy, unforgettable bioluminescent swimming scene. Celebrating this film right now feels especially poignant following Orbit’s passing — maybe he’s found some paradise of his own. So, next Thursday, August 20th, we’re building our own. Join us at The Bakery for a night celebrating the music and world of The Beach, with sets from myself, Secret Grapes, and Malex inspired by the film; video art by The Hefker Girl; food by Julie Hill; drinks by Sacred Software; and custom aromas by Nick Wong. Because smell-o-vision is so back — and 4D cinema deserves an elevated treatment. See you at the beach.

Teaching a class on using #OBS for video art, at @wavefield.nyc on 8/16. OBS is a Swiss army knife for video on Mac, Windows, and Linux. In this class you will learn the OBS interface, how to use OBS as a VJ mixer, and some intermediary video feedback techniques. We will make sense of the OBS interface, install commonly used plugins, such as Syphon, Spout, NDI video streaming. And install some artistic shader plugins. By the end of this workshop you will be confident in how to use OBS reliably. Now with 100% more Link In Bio.

What an incredible weekend at Upstate Art Weekend! I was honored to be part of A Complicated Union: Art & Protest at America’s 250th Anniversary at One Mile Gallery. It felt especially meaningful to exhibit work that sparked conversations about politics, protest, and the complicated relationship many of us have with a country we call home. After spending time in the gallery, my partner in crime, Sully, and I hit the road to experience as much art as we could. We barely scratched the surface, but every stop left me inspired by the work, the artists, the spaces, and the conversations with both old friends and new people we met along the way. If you missed Upstate Art Weekend, A Complicated Union remains on view through August 8, with an artist reception on July 18. Living in the Hudson Valley has been such a gift. Having this incredible community of artists, organizations, and creative spaces right outside my door is something I don’t take for granted. Weekends like this remind me how fortunate I am to call this place home. I left with a full heart, a fresh sense of inspiration, and an iPhone full of photos. As Helen Toomer says, “Saw art, felt better.” So true!
