In this workshop, we will first create a network for generating a point cloud from a 2D image. Then we will modify that network to generate a point cloud from a 3D scan of a real life object. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a flexible system that you can continue to expand and customize.

No prior TouchDesigner experience is required. Just bring a laptop with TouchDesigner installed (the free version is sufficient). [Link in my bio] by @wavefield.nyc

Join us for an evening of listening, recording, and sound exploration!

Abstracting Ambience is a workshop centered around found sound recordings captured from the environments around us.

Participants will transform their recordings into abstract or melodic soundscapes through experimentation and creative processing.

Participants asked to bring their own headphones, and are encouraged to bring their tools of choice (portable mixer, laptop, phone or audio software of choice), and additional equipment will be available for use if necessary.

This workshop is open to all skill levels. Whether you’re new to sound design or an experienced artist, the goal is to create a relaxed, low-stakes space for experimentation, curiosity, and sharing ideas through sound.

🏝️ We built a temporary island at Studio Bakery inspired by the film “The Beach” from 2000 directed by Danny Boyle. We have thought of every sense so you can fully immerse yourself in the lagoon. Leo’s character was tired of the monotony of everyday life and capitalism and eager to find something more meaningful - more exciting. Aren’t we all? The anxieties of how technology would plague us were heightened at the turn of the century when this film was made - and not much has changed today. Let’s find paradise outside of our American dystopia - together on Thursday, August 20th. Ticket link in bio.

Cinergy: A Film & Music Introspective is a new project from Leisure Emporium that is meant to bring the film and music communities together like never before. The objective is to visualize sound, to feel the deeper meanings behind music, and to have artists get inspired by mediums that may not be their own in order to create something unexpected and beautiful. Like a film introspective - this series is meant to bring films to light that depict both challenging and inspirational messages and to match them with the music that amplifies those messages. Expect to see utopias, communities coming together, and visions of the future. We engage the full sensorium by shaping spaces into metaphors that spark profound meanings that make abstract healing concepts feel embodied and real. We do this through aromatherapy, tactile elements, projection mapping, and much more depending on what the film inspires. taken in The Beach by @wavefield.nyc

Wavefield Field Trip #6: Holographic studios

Wavefield Field Trips are group visits to artists, studios, and experimental polymedia spaces exploring all aspects of video, sound, and technology. We hope that every trip extends Wavefield into an open field of waves by expanding attendees connections to other artists, their work, and more generally to possibility, inspiration, and community. Join us for a tour of the Holographic Studios led by Sy Rivers.

Founded by one of the original pioneers of holography Jason Sapan (aka Dr. Laser), Holographic Studios is a world leader in display holography. Holographic Studios operates the world’s oldest gallery of holography, located in the heart of New York City in the lower east side. they produce holograms below the gallery in their subterranean laser laboratories. Since Doc lasers retirement, the studio has been run by his apprentice and mentee Sy Rivers. Today they continue to exhibit, create, and provide education on holographic and laser art in their lower east side location. #holography #nyc #wavefield by @wavefield.nyc
