The day was overflowing with hugs, celebration, and all the feelings. So grateful to this community for creating such a safe, vulnerable space for us all to show up as we are 🫶🏻

Welcoming warm water of San Diego and the colors of yet another beautiful sunset made for perfect Friday afternoon. Here every month the amazing non profit @wavesofcolororg invited me to not only be a part but also document it. A movement that supports the next generation of women as surf leaders, coaches, mentors and competitors.

Today was a really special milestone for the San Diego Chamber of Connection.

More than 20 club and community leaders came together for the kickoff of our Community Builder Network.

We shared stories; talked honestly about the challenges of building a community; and exchanged ideas, tips, and encouragement.
Attendees actively participated and experienced what we’re hoping to create: a place where community builders can gather with peers, learn from one another, and give and receive support.

We heard so much appreciation for the opportunity to connect with others who understand this work. That tells us we’re building something that’s needed.

The Community Builder Network is about supporting and sustaining the people who are already strengthening connection via San Diego’s clubs and communities. If you lead (or know someone who leads) an IRL community or club that regularly gathers 20+ people in San Diego County, the CBN is for you! Let’s connect.

The ocean doesn’t care how many years you’ve been surfing. It will humble you on a random Tuesday for no reason. Helen from @wavesofcolororg got stung. Like, really stung. And instead of becoming a permanent land person she just started asking better questions about how to protect herself so it doesn’t happen again.

Turns out, the right gear changes everything 🐉

Surf fest is just around the corner!!! A very special shout out to @cypress_surf for donating a surfboard (for the second year in a row 🥹) to our annual fundraiser and raffle!! We are so lucky to have the most supportive community!!! Raffle tickets are $5 or 5 for $20! So many great raffle prizes again this year, can’t wait to see ya!

Also, A huge thank you to @baerlicbrewing for letting us host at the brewery for the 3rd year in a row!!

These meetups are more than meets the eye. On the surface, it’s a place for hugs, cheers and a chance to playfully share some waves together. 🌊

But under the surface new connections are being made & visionary ideas are exchanged; all with the goal of uplifting and empowering each other and the community.

There’s something really special about being in the ocean together — and the power of women supporting women.
