POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ve always loved black over white shutters. Functionally, the first floor shutters were paneled for protection and painted white so they would reflect the lights inside and further brighten the reception rooms at night. The upper shutters were often louvered to allow better airflow in the summers and painted black to keep bedrooms darker for sleeping.

When we replaced our shutters at Knollwood, my wife vetoed this look. I still wish we’d done it.
