Our last day was unexpectedly emotional for both of us. We formed such beautiful connections with staff as well as the kids at the children's home that it was difficult to say goodbye.

Today Redeemer House Ministries and Ugandan government officials had an amazing meeting. The senior probation officer said, “thank you Redeemer House! You are always in line with what the government requires. You make it so easy to work with you.” It is an honor for us to serve the Lord alongside the government in Uganda and we are so grateful to be continuing.

It was pretty special sharing one-on-one time with Simon - the Director of the school, Henry - accountant and electrician magician, and Patrick - the jack of all trades. ❤️ All three are from Redeemer who now share their big talents to help the org (and kids) thrive.

Part III:

My favorite part about my Scotty's massive involvement with this treasured organization is that I only learned about it (his involvement) by happenstance. In the most serendipitous way, we had both been exposed to the cause long before we started dating and this was yet another example of how our lives were connected before. My involvement was quite minimal and my awareness of the organization came less than a few years ago. Scott's involvement literally built the possibilities that reside on that sacred piece of land and the marks he has made go back many years now... stumbling upon a true good deed deepens my love for humanity and I love that the person my heart has chosen happens to be on the other end.

The last rambling memory I'll share from our first 48 hours is of another natural eruption that occurred upon our arrival. The Redeemer House is the home of Brighton, a real life Christmas baby, born one year ago last Christmas Day. He relentlessly gestured for me to pick him up and latched onto me at the family table during the introductions I mentioned. While Brighton was sitting on my lap we listened to the house social worker spill her heart out about the children's lives - how they've been forever changed. Mid sentence Brighton farted on my lap and I started to giggle (and Wendi jokingly blamed it on me)... our giggles turned into everyone giggling during the special moment. Before I knew it "Uncle" Ema walked over to swoop Brighton from my arms before he "soo soo'd" on my lap.
