Happy 29th Anniversary to my forever boyfriend! ❤️

If there is one theme woven throughout our marriage, our family, and our lives, it is REDEMPTION.

Twenty-nine years ago, we were two college kids having a baby and getting married. The odds weren’t exactly in our favor, but God had a story to write that we never could have imagined. There is no doubt we wouldn’t be here today without His incredible grace, mercy, and faithfulness.

Rick, you are one of the most sacrificial people I have ever known. You’ve shown me unconditional love, forgiveness, patience, and grace through every season of life.

When we hear 1 Corinthians 13 read at weddings, it’s easy to think of it as beautiful, romantic words. But after 29 years, I know those words are anything but cliché.

“Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4–8

Not perfectly, but consistently, I’ve watched you live out those words, and I have been the grateful recipient of that love.

Together, we’ve been blessed with four biological children, two children through adoption, 4 beautiful daughters-in-law and now grandchildren! Each life and every chapter of our family carries its own beautiful story of God’s redemption.

As we embrace our grandparent era, finish strong in our careers, and continue serving through xHope, I am so excited for all that is ahead. We may someday retire from our careers, but we will never retire from serving Jesus and reminding others that no life is beyond His redeeming love.

Our faith in Christ has given us not only the hope of eternity but a life here on earth far more beautiful than we could have imagined.

Twenty-nine years later, we are still two imperfect people being held together by a perfectly faithful God.

I love you, Rick! Here’s to growing old together, loving our growing family, and watching God continue to write stories of REDEMPTION! ❤️ by @wcross8

There is something so beautiful about watching the Body of Christ work together. 🤍

More than 2,500 people from across the U.S. and over 50 countries gathered in Atlanta for CAFO Summit with one shared heart—to serve vulnerable children and families.

This year was especially meaningful as I had the privilege, for the third year, of writing and presenting a workshop alongside my son, Neb. In just a few weeks, he and his family will move to Ethiopia 🇪🇹
While at CAFO, we connected with people already serving there—relationships he can now continue once he’s on the ground.

The learning, training, and collaboration at CAFO truly make us better at what we do. Again, this year we were able to bring our International Director, who works directly alongside our Ugandan team, to learn and grow with us. We truly believe every ministry doing international work could benefit from being in this room. What a privilege to not only invest in CAFO as members, but to receive so much in return.

We came home with new friendships, new ministry connections, fresh tools, and potential partnerships. Kingdom work was never meant to be done alone. We really are better together. 🤍🌍 by @wcross8

A little behind-the-scenes sneak peek of what it takes to get our whole crew together for family photos. 😂🤍

And somehow, in just TWO years, we’ve added five more people to this picture. 🥹 Our family is growing, life is changing quickly, and these moments feel more precious than ever.

It’s my birthday month, and when I was asked what I wanted for my birthday, my answer was simple: I wanted my entire family together and an updated family photo. That’s it. That’s the gift. ❤️

Mamas with big families, you KNOW this is no small task. Coordinating schedules, outfits, babies, spouses, significant others, and getting everyone in the same place at the same time deserves an award. 😂

But my crew made it happen. 🥹

The older I get, the more I realize that there really isn’t anything I want more than this—my people, together.

I can’t wait to see the final pictures. For now… enjoy a little peek at the beautiful chaos behind them. 🤍

What an honor. What a privilege. And what a reminder that anything God calls us to do requires His grace. 🤍

This weekend, over 100 women gathered at beautiful Leoni Meadows for The Belonging—a weekend set apart to draw near to Jesus and be reminded of who we are and Whose we are. To know the truth, we all have a seat at the table!

We laughed. We danced. We rode go-karts and trains. We hiked. Some brave women even conquered the Goliath Swing! We dressed up for a Pretty in Pink dance party and made memories I know we’ll talk about for years.

But the most beautiful moments weren’t necessarily the loud ones.

They were the moments women sat before the Lord.

When hands were lifted in worship.
When tears fell.
When truth replaced lies.
When healing began.
When new friendships were formed.
When women got quiet enough to hear from God.

I had the incredible privilege of closing our weekend by encouraging these women, and I do not take moments like this lightly.

The message God placed on my heart was simple:

You don’t just have a seat at the table. You have an assignment.

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” — Matthew 28:19.

That assignment will look different for every one of us. It may happen in your home, your workplace, your church, your neighborhood, across the world, or in a season where very few people see what God is doing.

And sometimes, before the assignment comes the waiting.

But the waiting is not wasted.

God uses waiting seasons to prepare us, strengthen us, refine us and develop what we will need for where He is taking us. Just because you cannot see the purpose yet does not mean He isn’t preparing you for it.

So when the time comes, don’t let fear keep you sitting in the chair God called you to rise from.

You belong.
You have a seat.
And you have an assignment.

May we be women willing to say, “Here I am, Lord. Send me.” — Isaiah 6:8

What a weekend. What a sisterhood. What a faithful God. 💗 by @wcross8

PART TWO | CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE 🤍

The second day looked like more rides, more dancing, more treats and more Disney magic…

But I kept thinking about something much bigger.

Legacy.

I spent the day watching my mom love her great-granddaughters while I loved my granddaughters—and suddenly I could see four generations right in front of me.

Motherhood changes as our children grow.

There was a season when being their mom meant packing lunches, driving to practices, helping with homework, correcting behavior and praying for everyone as I tucked them into bed.

Now my children are adults.

And I’m learning that one of the greatest ways I can still love and serve them as their mother is by being the kind of grandmother who intentionally invests in their children.

To show up.
To make memories.
To tell them about Jesus.
To remind them where they came from.
To create places where they know they belong.

And to give their parents the gift of knowing that there is another generation standing behind them, loving their babies fiercely.

“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children.” — Psalm 103:17

That’s what these two days were really about.

Not Disneyland.
Not princess dresses.
Not rides or glitter or matching outfits.

Those things just made it extra fun. ✨

The real investment was relationship.

Someday they may not remember every ride we rode or every princess they met.

But I hope somewhere deep inside them they will remember:

Jajja & Grammy showed up.
Jajja & Grammy prayed with us.
Jajja & Grammy made time.
Jajja & Grammy delighted in us.
And Jajja & Grammy taught us that family is worth investing in.

That’s a legacy I want to leave. 🤍 taken in Disney California Adventure Park by @wcross8

PART ONE | THE MAGIC ✨🏰👑

There are some traditions I hope we never outgrow.

When our granddaughters reach that magical age, my mom and I take them to Disneyland. Four generations making memories together. 🤍

And this time…we went ALL IN.

Matching princess dresses.
Tiny purses and sparkly shoes.
Princess hair. Glitter. Dancing. Shows. Rides.
And SO much wonder. ✨

Watching Disneyland through their eyes reminded me how beautiful it is to slow down long enough to enter into their world.

But somewhere between the princess dresses and castle pictures, I realized the real magic wasn’t something Disney created.

It was time.

Seven and a half hours in the car learning new songs, playing games, telling stories and laughing.

Holding little hands.

Watching their faces light up.

Being completely present.

These are the investments that don’t show up in a bank account—but I believe they will pay dividends for generations.

I don’t ever want to become so busy with life that I miss the privilege of making memories with the people God has entrusted to me. And with all the opportunities this world has to offer, it is easy to do.

“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

The dresses will eventually be outgrown.

The glitter will wash out.

But I pray they always remember how deeply they were loved. 🤍

Watch for Part 2: California Adventure…because the magic continued. ✨ taken in Disneyland by @wcross8

They bought the truck… but what made this mama proud was everything that happened BEFORE they bought it. ❤️

They sacrificed.
They saved.
They waited.
They lived within their means.
And when the time came, they paid CASH for a beautiful red F-150 that was new to them. 🙌🏼

Last night they pulled up to family dinner in their new truck, and one by one, everyone came outside to see it.

There was cheering.
There was laughter.
There was genuine excitement.

And standing there watching my kids celebrate their sibling’s win, I realized:

One of the greatest gifts in a family is learning how to celebrate someone else’s blessing without questioning your own.

Scripture says:

“Rejoice with those who rejoice.” — Romans 12:15

In a world where comparison, jealousy and competition can so easily creep into families, friendships and relationships, teach your children to be people who CHEER FOR EACH OTHER.

Someone else’s blessing doesn’t diminish yours.
Someone else’s success isn’t your failure.
Someone else’s answered prayer doesn’t mean God forgot yours.

👏🏼 Clap when they win.
👏🏼 Celebrate when they succeed.
👏🏼 Honor wise choices.
👏🏼 Be the loudest voice cheering for the people you love.

And to my kids who worked, sacrificed, waited patiently and chose not to go into debt just to have something sooner…

We are SO proud of you @joss.cross_ and @coop.cross

The truck is pretty awesome. ❤️🛻

But the wisdom, discipline and patience it took to get it?

That’s what we’re really celebrating.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice.”

Spent the morning at Board Boot Camp with three incredible xHope board members, and I left feeling so grateful. ❤️

What people don’t always see is the leadership happening behind the scenes. Our board members don’t simply show up for meetings—they give generously, provide ongoing oversight, advocate for our work, open doors, connect us with new investors and partners, and aren’t afraid to ask others to come alongside the mission.

Strong organizations require strong leadership, accountability, and people willing to carry the mission together.

I’m incredibly thankful for the men and women who serve xHope so faithfully and help us continue our mission of empowering vulnerable youth by providing hope, education, and support.

The mission may be visible, but there are some pretty amazing people faithfully serving behind the scenes to make it possible. 💛
