⭕ ENCIRCLOPEDIA — AN EXHIBITION BY DAVID WILLIAMS ⭕@therrunninghead
Circles are everywhere. 🌕🪐☢️🔆🌀👁️‍🗨️⚪️
From supernovas and seedheads to pizzas and planets, peeling paint and computer-generated foams, Encirclopedia takes us on a visual journey through the endlessly fascinating world of circles and circularity.

What is a circle?
Are there different kinds of circles?
Where does something stop being circular?
And why do circles matter?

✨ Come along and be stunned. ✨

This lunchtime we celebrated students who have been putting their future ready skills into action, from being problem solvers, analysers, thinkers and challengers to demonstrating great communication, learning, leadership, resilience and awareness.

Students received their TRC Top 10 Skills awards during a special lunchtime ceremony, recognising the skills and attitudes that will help them succeed in their next steps and beyond. Thank you to our partners for sponsoring the awards and prizes.

👏 Huge congratulations to all our award recipients. 🏆

💚 A new nature connection guide is out!

was a pleasure to collaborate with the London Interdisciplinary School, working with Shaylee Neveling producing a nature connection toolkit to empower individuals to independently strengthen connection to nature beyond in-person Be with Nature experiences.

To receive your own copy or find out more, join us for a guided Be with Nature experience or get in touch via DM or email us info@bewithnature.org.uk

Looking forward to continuing this collaboration to make nature connection accessible to all.

Twelve tables, twelve student projects, and a room full of members ready to dig in. 🔥

Last week, we hosted Crit Night with @weare_lis at The Conduit. Students presented work still taking shape, from early-stage ventures to systems-level challenges, and opened themselves up to real scrutiny.

Members chose the tables that pulled at their curiosity, offering the kind of direct, experienced feedback you don't get from a textbook. Swipe through to see the ideas on the table and the conversations they sparked.

This is what happens when experience meets ambition head on. #TheConduit #PurposedrivenCommunity #Changemakers #PositiveImpact #SustainableFuture

Last week, we welcomed the London Interdisciplinary School’s MBA cohort to The Conduit for Crit Night. Students brought real challenges to the table, and our members brought the questions that make you rethink your own assumptions.

Members moved between tables, drawn to whichever project sparked their curiosity most, and the conversations kept going long after the formal session ended.

It’s exactly the kind of evening we love hosting: sharp thinking, generous feedback, and new connections formed over a shared problem.

Which event should you join this week? 👇

While I’ve been taking a break for climate news videos, I’ve been reflecting on this project, Re-Placed, @sebastianmortimer and I worked on a whole three years ago.

Seb had just finished his masters at @weare_lis where his thesis was on how climate migration leads to overurbanisation. I’d just moved half way across the world to Santiago, Chile for a semester abroad to study climate sci, journalism and anthropology.

With overlapping, complimentary interests (and the fact that long distance is hard and this was an ideal reason for us to be in the same country!) we decided to join forces and work on our own research project on climate migration in South America.

Through the project, we were blown away by the resilience of some of the people we met. People who in the face of extreme adversity from climate change and extractive practices (oil spills, mining etc) fought for a better life for them and those around them. So much so that, given the chance to do it again, we’d focus in on the stories of these people, documenting their lives.

Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing more about two indigenous women, whose stories were deeply moving and who carried themselves with such resilience, integrity and care.

8 Higher Ed social posts we can’t stop thinking about 👇

🍊 Syracuse University took Chancellor Mike Haynie and mascot Otto Orange for a spin around campus in their new Ottomobile. Fun, quirky, and a great reminder: showing the people behind your university builds real personality.

🎓 UA92 are back with another banger. A CertHE isn’t a backup plan - it’s year one of a three-year degree. The post is a beautifully creative way to show the university experience is still within reach, even when things don’t go to plan.

💬 Macquarie University took a Reddit post and got their students to answer it… on campus! Reddit’s on the rise, and this is a smart, low-lift way to bring that energy into your socials.

🗺️ London Interdisciplinary School released a London guide curated entirely by a BASc student - her favourite food spots, hangouts, and bars, mapped out interactively. Clever, personal, and shareable.

💛 University of Salford are championing the Power of Us with student messages to staff who made an impact. We love it.

📓 University of Manchester left a blank notebook out on graduation day for family and friends to leave messages. The result: a heartfelt, real carousel of notes. No script needed.

🍜 RMIT made a microwave map. Because sometimes a social post just needs to be useful - and you can still be creative doing it.

🎥 Bond University kept their ‘what are you working on?’ series going strong. Simple, consistent, and a great way to build relationships while showing real student life on campus.

The future belongs to leaders who can connect ideas, not just specialise in them.

We're delighted to welcome the @weare_lis as an Academic Partner of the Resilience World Nexus (RWN) Summit 2026.

Founded on the principle that today's most complex challenges demand interdisciplinary thinking, LIS equips students to tackle real-world issues by combining disciplines including data science, economics, neuroscience, law, and the arts. Through partnerships with organisations such as McKinsey, the NHS, and KPMG, students work on live challenges spanning AI, climate, and inequality.

By bringing together diverse perspectives to solve complex problems, LIS is helping develop the next generation of leaders equipped to navigate an increasingly uncertain world.

We look forward to welcoming the LIS community to RWN Summit 2026.

Yesterday, life quietly changed.

I received the news that I had been awarded the Director’s Scholarship to begin my MASc in Complex Systems and Problems at The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS).

I was sitting at my best friend Nikki’s house when the email arrived. After a few tears, I went into the garden and spent the afternoon clearing it. Later that afternoon, a few more tears arrived, quietly caught in a couple of photographs Nikki took of me with her beautiful soul healer, Goose.

Less than two years ago, I arrived in London to begin my MASc in Creative Health at UCL. I arrived alone, with no family, carrying hope, uncertainty, and a quiet belief that kindness could still shape a life.

Having now completed that chapter, I begin another.

Thank you to everyone at UCL, and now at LIS, for seeing me.

Flowers keep finding light.

I’ll keep choosing kindness, risk, and the courage to ask difficult questions.

NEW WORKS MADE LAST NIGHT | 15 JULY 2026
Last night I returned to instinct.
No sketches. No certainty. Just movement, found materials, paint, paper, fabric, and the willingness to let each work become exactly what it wanted to be.
These pieces sit somewhere between portraiture, memory, architecture, and emotional archaeology. They aren’t intended to explain themselves. They ask to be experienced first.
Every mark remains visible. Every frame has a previous life. Nothing is hidden.
This collection marks the beginning of a new chapter before I begin my Master of Arts and Sciences in Complex Systems and Problems at The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS) @weare_lis this September. It feels fitting that the work also explores complexity—identity, vulnerability, love, grief, resilience, and transformation.
