New album “Wildflower” out now 🌸

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Wednesday we here at The Lost Leaf are hosting a listening party for @wearehereinspirit. A beautifully creative project which features ex members of Vehemence, Abigail Williams, Last House On The Left, Goldengoat, Wax Castle, and Misery Bloc, to name a few. Here In Spirit steps away from their past onto a shoegaze/post rock landscape, yet still brings the intensity one would only expect from those that emerged from a pedigree of death metal and hardcore punk.

9pm we’ll start their 2019 EP “Past Tense Portrait of a Paralyzed Purpose”.

10pm we’ll then start the new LP they just released, “Wildflower”.

9pm / Free / 21+

A gift from me to you, a little piece of my heart and soul: Here in Spirit - ‘Wildflower’ – I cannot tell you what this project has done for me. If you know me, you know 2016 was the worst year of my life. I bounced back physically, but a huge toll was taken on my confidence and metal well-being. I put my drums into storage when I left Albuquerque in 2012 and honestly never thought I would be able access my true creative outlet again.

Then one day in 2017, one of my favorite guitarists Bjorn Dannov posted one of the most beautiful guitar riffs I had ever heard, from his bedroom on the other side of LA. I realized that we both were in a very similar headspace after playing in metal bands for years - we wanted to write somber, melancholic music. I knew we had to link up.

Fast forward to today, and our first full length album ‘Wildflower” is out now. To me, the title represents the beauty that you can still find if you look around hard enough, the light at the end of the tunnel after traversing an absolute gauntlet of life’s tests, trials and tribulations, and finding comfort in solace. In all confidence I can say this album is an emotional journey.

I hope you can find the time to throw this on and vibe out. Spread the word 🌺

I made some music for y’all. Here in Spirit: “Of My Past” - the first song from our upcoming release ‘Wildflower’ out 2/10. Now streaming on BandCamp, Spotify, Apple Music etc.

This is the first of eight songs that Bjorn (guitars/keys), Chris (vocals) and I (drums) created with the help of @novisplit (mixing, production, additional performances) and @rednoseaudio (mastering.)

One of the last things I did before I moved out of Los Angeles was track drums in Nov. 2020; my drums have been in storage since, and now we are all in different states. It took a few years of cultivation but this flower finally bloomed and I am very proud to finally share this with you all.

For fans of: Depressing post rock? I have no clue, you tell me lmao.

McStory Time: When I moved to LA in 2012, my drums went into storage. I didn’t know if I would ever play them again. Then I was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and I was almost certain that I would never be able to play again even if I wanted to. In 2017, after being told I was in remission, one of my favorite guitarists Bjorn Dannov posted a video playing the riff of what is now our song “Blue Sky” and I realized he lived nearby. I said “yo let’s jam.” My drums came out of their cases for the first time in five years and we started writing songs. We recorded a handful and realized we needed vocals. Two years later those songs are done. We aren’t trying to take over the world. We just want people to enjoy some tunes. Here In Spirit - ‘Past Tense Portrait of a Paralyzed Purpose’ is now available on @Spotify @applemusic @bandcamp and more. #noitsnotdeathmetal #ithinkthekidscallitpostrock
