I’m beside myself that I have to make a post like this. Foster posts should be celebrations of life and finding forever with a family, but unfortunately that is not the only side we see in animal rescue. My sweet foster boy Jess Jess passed away this morning. He’s always been special- he had double elbow luxation and would clomp around smacking his feet on the ground. The ER vet thinks he had something called intussusception as well, and unfortunately went septic.
Jess was such a unique little guy and he never let his handicap get in the way of being a mischievous little puppy. He loved everyone, loved playing in the water, and especially loved cuddling in bed at night. He had the softest fur and the floppiest ears. I loved him dearly and already feel an insurmountable loss.
I know he will be in good company in heaven. I’m sure there is a meeting spot for all the best babies who were taken far too soon.
I love you forever, Jess Jess. Thank you for letting me be your foster mom.

I leave you with one of my favorite poems :

I have no idea how Marciano survived.

When his mom and littermates were rescued from a vineyard, no one realized one puppy was still out there. For the next three months, there were occasional sightings, but no one could catch him. He was alone, eating grapes and fending for himself.

When animal services finally caught him at around 5 months old, he was covered in hundreds of ticks. He had scabs and wounds all over his body, including punctures on his neck, and he was terrified of people.

Somehow, his medical tests came back clear. With patient foster care, his puppy personality started to come out, and he’s trusting new people a little more every day. ❤️

I’m fostering Marciano this week to help assess him and learn more about what he needs. He’s looking for a foster home or an adopter. If you’re interested, message me—and please share him!

Lorelei is a wiggly princess, survivor of backyard breeding, absolute love bug, and enemy of unstable chairs. Does she move without a sound? Absolutely not, she will knock your purse off the table and slip on the hardwood. Will she care? Nope! Nothing can phase this absolute babe.
.
Loves: snuggling at your feet, snacks on snacks, and napping a foot away from the dog bed. Loves our toddler and will playfully chase him. And she'd love a benebone sponsor, k thanks! And despite her unstable back legs, she loves going on walks and exploring!! She just went on a super long road trip with us (12 hours) and she had a blast!

Working on: hanging out with large groups of people, she prefers smaller hangouts or ones that aren't too rowdy. Potty training and going more regularly (she was definitely forced to hold her movements for long stretches so she doesn't always go when she actually needs to) is our current focus.

Sophie is a gorgeous 4 year old Doberman with @weirdrescue So lucky to be her foster for a short time. Here a few things I’ve learned about her in the last week. She loves love. Loves attention. Loves people. Loves going for walks and sniffing. Loves toys and will keep collecting them. She does not resource guard with toys, food or attention. She redirects well. The best girl. She likes squirrels and will try to eat flies. Loves her food and treats and will sit nicely for them. She likes other dogs and has met a lot, but I think she needs a slow intro and time to get to know the dog. Like a nice long walk together. Learning to love her crate and will go in there on her own, but still learning to be alone at home. She will whine for a little and then settle. Loves lounging and snores gently. She’s all around an amazing dog and would love a family of her own.
