Quick recap of double duty in Sudbury:
1. Set up the rig at Place des Arts to map live projections for an unreal lineup of artists 🎥
2. Closed out the festival on drums with Boutique Feelings 🥁
3. Ate my first fried Oreo in the booth (shoutout Sam Woy for the hookup) 🍪 IT WAS JUST OK AHAHA!

We're so proud to kick off this new season in partnership with the Up Here festival!

𝐍𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 :: Tarun Godara (@tarun__godara)
[August 14 - September 17]

𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 : Friday, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟰 at 𝟱 𝗽.𝗺

A large-scale cardboard installation built entirely from recycled materials, Limbo explores the quiet imprisonment of being unable to move forward.

Inspired by the artist’s own experience, the work reflects the emotional weight of feeling trapped in circumstances, relationships, or places that seem impossible to escape. Experiences that many can relate to.

Constructed from discarded materials, the sculpture embodies resilience amid stagnation - a life pieced together while waiting for change that has yet to arrive. There may or may not be a light at the end of the tunnel here, but the determination you escape one day does exist.

Take the people you love to where you grew up so they can understand your lore up close.

Spent a few days in my hometown(s) of Sturgeon Falls and Sudbury. I was reminded that I am a true Gemini who is too indoorsy for Northern Ontario and too folksy for Southern Ontario. And yet, I thrive!

IYKYK

I had beautiful weather for a road trip, but it definitely made me emotional because these stunning landscapes that I grew up with and frankly, took for granted, are quite literally burning before our eyes because we keep electing politicians who care more about pipelines and AI data centres than people and the planet.

Sudbury has so many gorgeous murals including this iconic homage to our hometown hero Alex Trebek!

The beautiful mural to my grandmother and the other 11 women who were the first women hired as labourers at Inco and all the women who've come since!

You can't go home and not say hi to the largest coin in the world. C'mon, now.

Nickel city, baby!

First generation in my family to not work in the mines but still gotta respect the journey. I DGAF about the new exhibit on the future of the extraction industry. I did the tour that showed the evolution from the 1800s to the early 2000s because it was the mid-century where both sides of my family relied entirely on the mine to survive, both as labourers and as union organizers fighting for worker safety.

Did I wear a tennis skirt and a full face of makeup underground? Yes. I can't change who I am!

Statue in Bell Park commemorating Sudbury's history of mining and the workers who made it possible.

I moved away in 2003 so I'm unsurprised that it looks very different than when I lived there. I *love* that there's now a vegan taco spot across from a vegan bakery. I visit Beards Bakery every time I'm in town. But this trip was special because it happened to be during the blueberry festival which if you know, Sudbury is known for our mine and our giant nickel but also for our abundance of wild blueberries. This iced oat milk Matcha with blueberry syrup was a religious experience and I literally bought one every morning I was there.
