For the last eight years, The Groundlings has been my home. I found the program during a time in college when I just needed to laugh. I would commute to West Hollywood, take improv classes, and learn how to listen, play, and — most importantly — not take myself so seriously. After years of classes, workshops, and performance wows with some of the most insanely talented teachers, I finally got the chance to do what I’d dreamed of: perform in The Groundlings Theater.

These last 13 weeks in Writers Lab were everything. I told myself years ago that if I ever got to perform on that stage even once, I’d be proud of myself. And it came true. In hindsight, I should’ve wished for more than one night, because I wasn’t expecting my Groundlings journey to end this soon.

Thirteen weeks of weekends spent doing what I love — writing late into the night, rehearsing at new friends’ apartments, and building characters who lived in my head long before they ever hit a stage. Some made the show, some stayed in my notebook, but every single one helped me find my voice.

I’ve been in Groundlings classes since 2018 — improv, characters, all of it — but Writing Lab made me feel like I found my purpose. I found a new level of commitment, a new confidence in my writing, and a voice I didn’t know I had.

I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to this program, but this chapter was magic. I met lifelong friends, learned so much about myself, and got to work with teachers who pushed me, believed in me, and occasionally watched me make choices that can only be described as “bold.” Like choosing to be a Libman mop for a monologue.

Thank you to every teacher and every classmate who shaped this journey. My time at Groundlings is over, but my love for sketch comedy isn’t going anywhere and I will continuing to pursue comedy, create and most importantly laugh.
