POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Coming back to Throne of Glass as a full reread was a very different experience from reading it the first time.
What struck me most was how small the story feels at the beginning compared with where it ends. We start with one assassin in a castle and finish with kingdoms, witches, gods, armies and a web of relationships that has been building quietly from book one.

Aelin is obviously at the centre of it, but what I appreciated more this time was how much of the final story is carried by the people she gathers around her. Her kindness, loyalty and habit of interfering in other people’s lives come back again and again. By Kingdom of Ash, she has built a court whether she intended to or not.

For all the magic and war, though, I think the thing that holds the series together is relationships. Again and again we get characters who were raised to be weapons, taught not to love, or convinced they were better alone - and again and again, loving someone is what changes them.

I also came away even more convinced that The Assassin’s Blade is not optional. So many later reunions and payoffs carry more weight because of it. And the tandem read completely changed Tower of Dawn for me - much less side quest, much more two halves of the same endgame.

The other danger of rereading this after ACOTAR and Crescent City is that I now trust absolutely nothing Sarah J. Maas describes too specifically. Eyes, names, library cats, pools of shadow - all on the conspiracy board.

I finished Kingdom of Ash satisfied, emotional, and still wanting one more glimpse of their future.
Which is probably the best sign that a series has done its job.

A quick four in the next four post before I run out of months (I procrastinate). These are four books I’d like to read before the end of the year, last year I didn’t end up reading any Christmas themed books as I ran out of December reading time, so one on here to try and rectify that. I will say this reading year for me has been similarly poor. Even when I’m loving a book I’m having trouble picking it up and dedicating the time to it, which is very annoying.

Anyway are any of these on your TBR/radar? Hope you’re all having a lovely Saturday so far. I’m tagging a few people to try this but no pressure 🤷🏼‍♀️

Too Hexed To Handle by Charlotte Ingham ✨

Falling in love shouldn’t be fatal, unless you’re hexed, heartless or hiding a deadly secret…

If she kisses him, he dies….. literally.

This book is a perfect blend of fantasy & romantic comedy, I’ve been giggling and kicking my feet and that’s a feeling a book hasn’t given me for a while! I adore both Daisy and Astin, please, Daisy owns an inn and just wants to use her magic to fulfil the only one bed trope and make couples fall in love. How wholesome 🥹😂

In full transparency, I haven’t ✨quite✨ managed to finish this yet, quite frankly, life has been kicking my ass, but I’m so nearly done and can’t wait to finish and find out what happens! And I shall update you when I do with my final thoughts 🙌🏻

A massive thank you to @writesalotte @hotkeybooks & @instabooktours for organising this tour and allowing me to read this book early!

Pub date: 10th September 2026

✨ Synopsis ✨
Daisy has a secret: she’s a Souleater, an outlawed magical being who can feed off of emotions. She’s also hexed: her kiss cursed to kill. So she’s built a quiet life running a crumbling inn on the edge of town, matchmaking guests while keeping her own heart firmly off-limits.

But when a mysterious contest promises a cure for Souleater magic and a reward big enough to save her inn, Daisy sets off on a perilous quest with Astin, her emotionally unavailable (and infuriatingly attractive) gardener. There’s just one problem: Astin hunts Souleaters. And he doesn’t know Daisy is one of them.

As secrets unravel and feelings get far too complicated, Daisy must choose: the cure, the truth . . . or the one man she might love enough to kiss.

HAPPY SATURDAY! 🫶🏼

The weekend is finally here! Wooooo 🥳

Today’s stack is part of the #oldskoolchallenge club. @chapter1.page1 set this week’s challenge as a one word title stack.

I thought, easy! Turns out it really wasn’t 😂 I didn’t realise quite how many books have the word ‘The’ sneakily sitting in front of their title until I started pulling books off my shelves 🙈

I opted for a hardback stack. Six books. Three read. Three unread. And all six are signed 😍

✨ Spellbound by @georgialeightonauthor – a stunning retelling that is waiting patiently on my shelves to be read.

🧡 Fearless by @m.w.craven – also waiting to be read! But with no new Poe & Tilly until 2028, I’m going to use the time to work my way through Mike’s other four books. And obviously I’ll be picking up his new standalone when it comes out next year 🤭

💛 Verity by @colleenhoover – LOVED this one! And I’m incredibly excited for the adaptation later this year.

💙 Lochbound by @rebeccatempletonauthor – a five star read that I was lucky enough to read ahead of publication. I still think about this book now and it’s easily one of my favourite reads of the year 🫶🏼

🖤 Silvercloak by @laurasteven – I haven’t read this one yet and, yes, I already have Turncloak on preorder 😂 But at least when I do finally read it, I won’t have to wait to find out what happens next 🤪

🩶 Alchemised by @senlinyuwrites — my beautiful keeper copy, which is still safely inside its plastic wrap 🤭 I read this after Manacled and I LOVED Manacled, which is maybe why Alchemised didn’t land quite as strongly for me as it did for everyone else. I know I’m very much in the minority with that one!

Now let me see your #onewordtitlestacks! I’ve tagged a few of you in this post, but if you see this and fancy giving it a go, consider yourself tagged 🫶🏼 And remember to tag me too so I can like and share your fantastic stacks!

Happy Saturday xx

How many books do you read at once?

I don‘t usually read more than two books at a time and prefer to finish one before starting the next. Yet somehow the mood reader in me got out of controll and now I‘m reading 5 books at the same time and I‘m really drowning. At least they are all very different.
Still if anyone has any tipps, I appreciat any help right now.

Here is the pile:
📕THE FINAL REVIVAL OF OPAL & NEV by Dawnie Walton
📗(MOSTLY) HUMAN RESOURCES by Grace Viall
📙DEATH OF THE AUTHOR by Nnedi Okorafor
🎧GOLDENBORN by Ama Ofosua Lieb
📖LEGENDARY FRYBREAD DRIVE-IN (anthology e-book)

Want to bet which I will finish first? (I have truly no idea)

(Also for some reason my cat who usually runs away from the camera was really interested?)

Do you read many Asian Authors?

The year is almost halfway done and it‘s about time to check in on those yearly goals. Only I didn‘t really have a number I wanted to reach but instead I started two challenges in January to read more divers. And I already finished one of them.

The #ReadAsianAuthors2026 challeng I copied from the lovely @ktlee.writes so check her out.

Author from West or Central Asia:
FROM THE SUN AFTER LONG NIGHTS by Fatemeh Jamalpour and Nilo Tabrizy (Iran)

A book in translation:
THE HEALING SEASON OF POTTERY by Yeon Somin (South korea)

Authore from Southeast Asia:
BRIGHTER THAN SCALE, SWIFTER THAN FLAME by Neon Yang (Singapor)

A book from an indie press:
WHAT WE FEED TO THE MANTICORE by Talia Lakshmi Kolluri (tin House)

Free Space / Any Asian authored book:
STEADY SARAH by Justine Camacho-Tajonera (Philippine)

A bachlist book:
ORIENTING: AN INDIAN IN JAPAN by Pallavi Aiyar (released 2021)

Authore from South Asia:
THE MIDNIGHT TAXI by Yosha Gunasekera (Sri Lanka)

Price-winning (or longlisted) book:
TAIWAN TRAVELOGUE by Yáng Shuāng-zǐ (National Book Award Winner 2024)

Authore from East Asia:
CURSED BUNNY by Bora Chung (south korea)

I‘m still working on #10AfricanBooksChallenge by @blackgirlwithbooks but tell me which region of the world I should focus on in fall and how much books you think I can fit into my rythmus? (I was thinking maybe #7BooksFromTheAmericas or something.)

Would you get three in a row with just the books you read this year?

A moment for the details ✨ I think my favourite part of this painting is the first photo, which depicts the description in A Court of Mist and Fury of “various bridges connected the bustling island to the larger landmass that circled it on three side, one of them currently raising itself so that a many-masted ship could cruise through”.

I absolutely loved putting all these little details from the book into the painting. Can you also spot the “landing platform at the base of a tan stone palace” that Feyre, Rhys and Amren landed on?

Challenge Accepted! 🤍✨

Thank you @home.iswherethebooksare for the tag! I checked my battery and, at 37%, my result was a White Stack. It was the perfect excuse to dive into my shelves and pull together this collection of "gems" that share that clean, bright aesthetic.

🤍 I’ve included a mix of old favorites, nature-inspired reads and travel guides. I even managed to include a special guest: The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas, which is a favorite for my daughter! 👹🌈

🤍 If you want to join in for some book stack aesthetic inspiration, all you need to do is check what percentage your phone battery is just now, and the corresponding colour of heart is what colour your stack needs to be!

💚 100-80%
💙 79-60%
💖 59-40%
🤍 39-20%
🖤 19-0%

🤍 It’s funny how a simple color challenge makes you look at your library in a completely different way.

🤍 Tagging a few bookish accounts to join in, but anyone can participate—I’d love to see what colour your shelves are hiding! 📚✨

the snowflake tag ❄️

good morning, my beloved book lovers and bookish bats. I'm a little sad to see the winter weather go (it'll be 80*F by Friday, which I find unacceptable). I've only seen snow a few times in my life: in January 2025, and in New York, where this photo was taken. it didn't snow in our corner of ATL this year (much to CleoCatra's disappointment, who clung to the windows in anticipation), so no fresh Bookstagram photos for me. to cling to the snowy weather just a LITTLE longer, I thought I'd share this snowflake tag, found via @chloreadthat ! tagging friends, but if you're seeing this, share an answer to one of the prompts below! 🦇

I added three new tags to the last slide! choose one to use this spring! 🌸

snowflake: a book that made your heart melt ❄️
Moth Dark - Kika Hatzopoulou 🦇
Fall for Him - Andie Burke 🦇

snowman: a book character you'd be happy to be snowed in with ☃️
(if you're wondering WHO in each book, the answer is yes)
Triple Sec - TJ Alexander 🦇
Still Into You - Erin Connor 🦇

blizzard: a plot twist that caught you off guard 🌨️
how Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab ended (out of respect for her recent loss, I won't tag her, but show her some love by reading this one, bats!) 🦇

scarf: a book that feels like a warm hug 🧣
Last First Kiss - Julian Winter (THEM. The REP. The found family.) 🦇
Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl - Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone (A healing kinda love.) 🦇

hot chocolate: a comfort read ☕️
Truly, Madly, Deeply - Alexandria Bellefleur 🦇
Stars Collide - Rachel Lacey 🦇

ice: a character who is cold at first but warms up 🧊
(I 100% live for 'she's hurt and taking it out on him' black cats)
Some Kind of Famous - Ava Wilder 🦇
The Ripple Effect - Maggie North (ahhh, you thought I wouldn't add it, huh?) 🦇
The Breakup Tour - Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka
For the Record - Emma Lord
