Why I Joined an Amateur PL Meet
– A gift to myself as I turn 35 in a few weeks
– My “I can do challenging things” Part 1 of 2 (Part 2 is next Saturday)
– My current CrossFit programming, LPC of @theprocessprogramming is building towards a CrossFit Total, and testing day ended up being just one day apart from this PL meet… so might as well, right?
– a celebratory individual comp after a 2-year sedentary lifestyle and then a year of proper training and comeback

Despite having to cut 3kg in 10 days, I managed to do it safely. My energy stayed up even with a slight caloric deficit and an increase in daily steps. And honestly, how I approached the bar on comp day is a massive win for me: nervous, but fully aware and genuinely enjoying the process.

My coach, @ed_haynes_coach , asked me about my goal for this meet. I answered with along the lines of wanting to step on the platform with confidence, regardless of the outcome. And we achieved exactly that. 😊

My handler, @pezzothatlifts , was incredibly helpful in the days leading up to the meet and especially on comp day. All I had to focus on was making weight (HAH) and doing my squats, presses, and hinges. Everything felt way less nerve-racking because of his help, and the whole process became so much more enjoyable.

Lesson learned:
The “F it, we ball” mindset does not work for this Aunty anymore (unlike my early-20s PL friends). As I don’t train with big increment jumps, I shall continue YOLOing attempts with facts in mind. And by facts, I mean… if you haven’t benched 57kg in years, you do not attempt 60kg in a comp. 😂

BW: 62.2

To my number one enabler and supporter , @zatszatszats , thank you , my love, for always backing me up with my ridiculous decisions. ❤️🫶🏻

@powerliftingbrunei the meet was so efficiently organized! I’ll definitely be taking those lift commands into my training now. I had such a fun time competing, met new fitness peeps who were a joy to be around, and I hope to reconnect with everyone again. 😊

Thank you as well to my 673 fambam for the cheers and support ❤️ I heard ya’ll and felt the love.
