However, this event was created with our Altadena community in mind, especially those impacted by the Eaton Fire. From super volunteer turned F2P teammate, special shout out to Nico, who had been volunteering with us every week at the WOHA distro on Wednesdays and we are so grateful to have her! Nico first heard about We Out Here’s distributions through F2P’s Comms Manager and fellow friend Jocelyn. Ever since the fires happened, Nico really wanted to find a way to consistently show up and support folks affected by the fires. So this opportunity was right up her alley! From Nico’s POV: “Simply put: the vibe of a We Out Here Wednesday distro is immaculate. Everyone from my fellow volunteers to the community members we serve are good people. I genuinely enjoy spending time with everyone who shows up. It’s one of the few times during the week when I feel like I am a true Angeleno community member. It feels good to give back to the city I’ve called home for almost a decade. Lastly, I love being able to put my muscles to work!” 💪🏼🫑🍅 Thank you @outdoorswithnico for showing up!! Before receiving support throughBlack Freedom Fund’s Black LA Relief & Recovery Fund, Juicy Little Society (@juicylittle) was entirely self-funded, relying on fundraisers and its thrift store to sustain its programming. Krystal Lopez, the organization’s CEO, shares how this support helped provide the resources Juicy Little Society needed to continue distributing food and essential supplies to Dena residents following the Eaton Fire.. It’s a reminder that investing in community organizations also means investing in the practical tools they need to keep showing up. We’re proud to partner with Juicy Little Society and all of our Black LA Relief & Recovery Fund grantees as they help communities recover, rebuild, and remain rooted.
