New on the blog! Meet Assistant Professor of Engineering and Applied Science Elizabeth Chang-Davidson in her new profile on WAVES (link in bio). Professor Chang-Davidson arrived at college with a plan: to double major in mechanical engineering and math, a combination which was shaped by interests she had carried throughout high school. During her high school years, she spent long afternoons and evenings working with her robotics team, building and troubleshooting whatever problems arose. In the summers, she went to math camps where she learned, as she puts it, “lots of weird math.” Pursuing both fields felt natural, and in the end she completed the exact double major she had imagined.

Very pleased to celebrate the New York launch of An Image of Colonial Violence Pulled from the Air with @interprt_ co-founder Nabil Ahmed at @storefrontnyc tonight. Huge thanks to @anisa.jackson for the conversation and to all the folks at Storefront for hosting. An Image of Colonial Violence Pulled from the Air showcases a decade of research and advocacy by the environmental forensics agency INTERPRT, who use spatial and visual techniques to produce evidence for legal actions—including briefings and petitions to the International Criminal Court—and materials to support community groups in contexts where the legal fora to contest environmental violence do not yet exist. Designed as a toolkit for researchers and practitioners alike, the book guides readers through the conceptual, legal, and methodological frameworks that have grounded INTERPRT’s urgent struggle against impunity in a warming world. The book tour continues tomorrow at @wes_codes and on Thursday at @environmentalstudies_bard. An Image of Colonial Violence Pulled from the Air is published by @endofmedium with support from @nncontemporaryart and distributed exclusively by Library Stack. It is available to read with a free account on our site.
