Western University of Health Sciences was proud to serve as a presenting sponsor of the 10th annual @pomona5k10k on Oct. 17, bringing together more than 1,200 runners and walkers in downtown Pomona.

From Team WesternU participants representing our campus community to the Health and Wellness Resource Fair, where students and faculty preceptors offered screenings, consultations, and health resources, the event showcased our commitment to community health in action.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone event a success and to our Pomona community for continuing to run, walk, and grow alongside us. Together, we’re building connections and supporting a healthier future for all.

What I love most about being in academia? 🎓💜

Academia involves so much, from developing innovative approaches in my courses, delivering lectures, precepting students and conducting research. But some of the most rewarding parts of my role happen beyond these traditional responsibilities! 👩🏻‍🏫

I love connecting with students, sharing my experiences, and teaching professional development topics like self-awareness and personal growth. I especially enjoy being part of students’ career journeys, helping them navigate challenges, offering guidance throughout the residency application process, and watching them grow personally and professionally.

But what I love most? The behind-the-scenes work! 💜

I genuinely enjoy the college service component: Identifying students’ needs through my interactions and observations, brainstorming creative ideas, and collaborating with colleagues to develop initiatives that meaningfully improve the student experience.

Academia gives me the opportunity to bring together so many of my passions: teaching, coaching, mentoring, positive psychology, and using my creativity to bring ideas to life. It’s fulfilling and where I belong ✨
