As someone who’s been in a chronic reading rut this year, I decided the best way out is to get recommendations from all my bookstagram friends and reading a few of their favorite stories.

I’m going to embark on this over the remainder of the year and keep everyone up to date on my thoughts 💕 Wish me luck.

coming out of my posting hibernation to announce that some of my friends and I are hosting a pride bingo for the month of June! we also created a storygraph challenge (link in stories) for book recommendations for the prompts! the storygraph challenge will run for the remainder of 2025 because everyone should be reading queer and diversely all year round anyway! 🏳️‍🌈

This past month Kaila did a fun little Birthday Bingo Giveaway and I had such a blast participating that when she offered the idea of a June Pride Bingo I absolutely couldn’t pass up the opportunity to host and participate! As someone with both friends and close family that are LGBTQIA+ it is important to me to support and promote their representation across all media and not just for the month of June! That’s why our storygraph challenge (l!nk in story) will feature book recs for the Bingo Prompts and the challenge will continue to run through the rest of the year.

HAPPY INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE DAY! 📚

This is a love letter to indie bookstores ❤️ thank you for being so much more than a place to buy books (from real people who are invested in our communities)! You provide a place for the community to gather and share skills, discuss media, and have fun! You bring in authors, artists, and support other small local businesses. My local indies each have their own niche, and make an effort to stock a diverse selection of books to choose from, and include local authors and efforts whenever they can!

Here’s just a few of my faves pictured (some from indie bookstore days’ past!) I hope if you are going to buy a book today (this weekend, whenever!), that you can visit or order online from an independent bookstore!

And f*€k the ‘zon for having a book sale online literally 2-3 days before #indiebookstoreday (which has been the last Saturday in April for 12 years now) in an obvious effort to overshadow it 🙄 like we see what you are doing, and we are not here for it! It’s so easy to buy books from @m@z0n, but I’ve been putting a concerted effort over the past few years to purchase from my fave local businesses whenever possible.
