✨ Meet Me in Five ✨

💭QoTD: What was your favorite book or band growing up?

✍🏻 @jessies.integral.reads tagged me a bit ago on this trend and finally I was able to sit down and hash it out. Let me tell you - this was hard! I’ve lived a full life, read many books, seen and watched so many movies, gone to hundreds of concerts and nailing them down to five was just plain hard. 😆

📖 So, here I am. My fives. Do we have any in common?

🤍 Oh! I did forget some interesting random five facts about me at the end of this…

1. I’m a full fledge GenXer and wear my badge proudly.
2. I played Second Life for almost 19 years in which I created my own content, ran a successful event, and also owned the largest blogger support group in the game (kinda like a PR firm for us Bookstagrammers.)
3. I’m a Breast Cancer survivor. 💕
4. I travel alone A LOT. Being alone doesn’t phase me.
5. I once danced on stage with G Love and Special Sauce.

🍃 Lost In | Letting Go Book Stack 🍃

💭 QoTD: If a book falls of a shelf while no one is around, does it make a noise?

✍🏻 I’ve been thinking about friendships lately. Found Family. About letting go and moving on.

📖 Personally, I’ve never been one to have a large friend circle. I’ve had close friends, those I consider best, and even one that is like a sister to me. Yet, as the years go by, those friendships have wavered and fluctuated. Ebbed and flowed. Burned hot then puttered out like a dying star.

🌳 Even though we flow through many friendships throughout our lifespan, it amazes me how some tend to plant roots down deep, while others just continue to move on, their seeds never planting into the soil of my forest (whether it be because I don’t tend or it’s not fitting.) Finding those connections are hard and it’s why at times I shut down, inadvertently closing myself off and preventing new connections to happen. And in doing so, those relationships that have been there for a while, may also succumb and fall. Never making a noise within the forest, as they move on.

🍃 But when I look at the bigger picture - when I go back and walk through my own forest, I realize the sturdier and taller trees are those that always didn’t need to be tended too. They took root and stayed because they knew I would need them today, tomorrow, or even years from now. Because true friendships, true found family, will stand tall next to you even if you’re not always there in that moment.

🤍 My stack was inspired by trees in a forest, the bronze stacks I saw @readingwith_love and @valeriia_books do. Tagging some to see your trees.

🪽 Heaven Help Me | Hell is Near Book Stack 🔥

💭QoTD: Do you let others influence your creativity or do you do YOU?

✍🏻 Oi. This place at times gets the best of me. Sometimes it’s the best place on earth. I feel seen. I feel heard. I feel complete. Other times I feel like I’m a walking soul falling through the many circles of hell trying to figure out my niche and the place I belong.

🪽 Believe me - I do hear you. I hear the statements: Take a step back. Do you. Ignore the haters. It’s your place. But, when I do take a step back, I feel more alone…invisible - that life is just turning faster and faster and I’ve missed my train. I’m waiting to catch up and it’s already turned the bend.

🔥 This place has been a saving grace. A place where I can be who I want to be and also be vocal when in my daily I keep it all hidden. It’s my slice of heaven in a world too massive and too big. But when the fantasy starts to crack and the reality sets in…is it really heaven sent or the gates of hell?

🖤 My stack was inspired by @tbrchronicles who tagged me ages ago to make a heaven/hell stack. Welcome to the chaos.

🍉 Your Caption | Your Choice Book Stack 🍉

💭 QoTD: What’s your current read?

✍🏻 Within this space, the caption is the second fiddle. It’s not the star, it’s not the showstopper - it’s the back drop to the main event. The pictures and images, the capcuts and videos - they are the stars hanging in the sky. So, the words…the words tend to stay back, hoping to be discovered.

📖 Even though we speak of stories, of our love of books and reading, we’re to convey this all into images. A captured moment in time, a second to grasp your attention, to stay a while and linger. Stay, stay, stay. And in doing so, we have opened ourselves to have you hear our voice. Whether you choose to listen is up to you.

🤍 Captions allow myself to flex. This space is just a canvas, ready to be filled with the overflowing words of my brain. Even if the images don’t convey the words, my hope is that they capture and make you pause enough to continue to read. To sit and reflect. Take note of my thoughts. As irrelevant as they may be.

✍🏻 Captions are just that.

🍉 I was tagged by a plethora of people to do a watermelon stack. My take is purely vintage and visual. Cutesy and wordy. Tagging some but if you’ve already done one then you’re good.

🏰 History We Make | Stories We Yield Book Stack 🏰

💭QoTD: Is there a time in history you love to read about?

⚔️ I’ve always loved history. In one way or another, wherever I went - I loved learning about the past. The stories that would unfold before my very eyes, weaved into monumental statues, glorious paintings, crumbling castles. To stand on the grounds, where people have fought, died and loved.

📖 Within our stories, we are beholden to history. We enrich our minds with revels, plays, and ancient times. We concoct our fantasies based on centuries past - pulling from what used to be and wishing for epic glory. Kings, Queens, Knights of the Realm. Castles that hold back our enemies and stand stoically on fields of dreams.

🏰 @readingwith_love and @boetbooks had tagged me in a royalty stack but I wanted to share my love of all things @d_a_n_jones who makes reading about history, especially medieval history, so much fun. His words inspire images so real, you feel as though you’re stepping into the past. If you’re a lover of this time - I implore you to read all his works.

(Also, the end pictures are from my time at Westminster Abbey…Edward V is entombed there.)
