As I have made abundantly clear; PAINT YOUR SHIT.
These mags were looking a little too factory fresh.

A magazine is a solid rectangle hanging off an otherwise cammed up rifle. Irregular patches of colour help break up that blocky outline. For a digger those extra seconds can be the difference between life and death, for hunters it can be the difference between getting a shit off or not and for the LARPers out there; it looks damn hot

For these mags I used a 3d printed vietnam tigerstripe stencil and Rustoleum paint:

The Process:

1. Clean the outside and mask the feed lips and openings.
2. Lay down the base colour.
3. Add darker colours through a stencil, shifting it between passes so the pattern stays irregular.
4. Let the paint cure, remove the tape, and check the mags still fit and function properly.

Last step: number your magazines. If one keeps causing feeding issues, you’ll know which mag needs a closer look instead of blaming the rifle.

@woody_od recently took on his first rifle match at the inaugural ZeroTech Carbine Match hosted by Precision Rifle Queensland at SSAA Jandowae, finishing an impressive 7th overall in a competitive field. Beyond the results, the event showcased the camaraderie, support and welcoming spirit of Australia's shooting community.

Keep your panties on—it’s a gel blaster. We’re using it as an analogue to demonstrate the process without me getting raided. If you’re painting an actual firearm, ensure it is cleared and follow unit authorisation.

If your battalion authorises painted gats and you’re still carrying a completely black Steyr or Minimi, take that as your wake up call.

Get the tape and paint out. Take ownership of your equipment and pay attention to the one percent details that make you harder to detect and better at your job. Nobody should care more about improving your fieldcraft than you do.

Strive for perfection in your craft. Go out of your way to become a better digger.
