@woody_od recently took on his first rifle match at the inaugural ZeroTech Carbine Match hosted by Precision Rifle Queensland at SSAA Jandowae, finishing an impressive 7th overall in a competitive field. Beyond the results, the event showcased the camaraderie, support and welcoming spirit of Australia's shooting community.

A great first match, valuable lessons and plenty of motivation to come back stronger next time!

If you're thinking about participating next time, be sure to check out the latest issue for all the details!

Another deer down in Australia

Up in North Queensland hunting with some good mates and managed to get a young chital on the ground. He might not be the biggest, but with limited time up here I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity.

Another great hunt, plenty of good memories made, and another species ticked off the list.

Now there’s just one of the four left to go…

The deer hate it when the grass starts arguing over Holden vs Ford.

I still have plenty of hats to go around if you want to be the coolest guy on the flat range. MC Black restock in progress.

Hunting has taken me further than I ever imagined, and looking back, I’ve come a long way, but I’m still learning something with every hunt.

Every animal and every hunt has its own story. Some have taken years of patience, others have come from opportunities I never expected.

From chasing red deer here in Australia, to hunting chamois and hare in the mountains of France, to experiencing flooded-timber duck hunting in Arkansas, hunting has taken me to some incredible places and introduced me to some great people along the way.

And the journey is nowhere near finished. by @whiskey.alpha_

Three years chasing this bloke… and today, completely out of nowhere, the opportunity finally presented itself.

I’ve spent countless hours looking for a good Rusa stag, and sometimes hunting has a funny way of rewarding you when you least expect it.

This morning everything just came together, and I couldn’t be more grateful to finally put a beautiful Rusa stag on the ground. An unreal animal and one I’ll remember for a very long time.

Three incredible deer species and a heap of memories along the way.

The face you make when you spend hours stalking into the perfect position, build a hide with great overwatch, create your range card, and have the wind working in your favour… only for it to suddenly change and carry your scent everywhere. 🤦‍♂️

It doesn’t matter though. Every day spent sharpening your skills is a day well spent.

Stalking. Building hides. Reading the terrain. Working with the environment instead of against it. Creating snap hides. Building range cards. Learning from the wind.

Every success teaches you something. Every failure teaches you even more.

The hunt doesn’t always go to plan, but the experience is always worth it. by @whiskey.alpha_

What a weekend.

The Imbil Roar Returns delivered everything you’d hope for—challenging stages, good mates, plenty of trigger time, and a few lessons to take home.

Whether you shot your personal best or had a match you’d rather forget, weekends like this are what keep us coming back.

Here’s a collection of some of my favourite moments from the match.

Thanks to everyone who helped put it together and everyone who travelled to compete.

See you at the next one. by @whiskey.alpha_

MAMMOTH 2027 // Gear Check ✅

The countdown is officially on.

After months of testing, changing and refining, I think I’ve finally got my Mammoth Sniper Challenge kit where I want it. Every piece of gear has earned its place—if it doesn’t add value or solve a problem, it doesn’t make the cut.

There’s still plenty of training to do, but it’s satisfying to see it all laid out before it disappears into the pack.

If you’ve completed Mammoth before, what’s one piece of gear you wouldn’t leave home without? by @whiskey.alpha_

I have a feeling this setup is going to be right at home at the Mammoth Sniper Challenge.

Current build:
🔹 MDT CRBN Stock
🔹 Defiance Deviant Tactical Action
🔹 Bartlein Carbon Fibre .223 Barrel
🔹 ZeroTech Trace Advanced
🔹 Warne Skyline Cantilever Rings

The goal is to keep it as light, accurate, and reliable as possible for the miles of rucking and challenging stages Mammoth is known for.

Who else has run a .223 at Mammoth?

I’d love to hear your setup, load, barrel length, and overall rifle weight. Any lessons learned or things you’d do differently? by @whiskey.alpha_
