Well, hasn't this been a nice surprise? I earned two accolades at the 2026 Canadian Community Newsmedia Awards: second place for my ongoing Pique Newsmagazine arts coverage and third place for an @invictusgames25 feature I wrote titled "Adapted for Achievement" (feat. @whistleradaptive).

I'm grateful that my editor Braden Dupuis, publisher Sarah Strother and colleague @luke_faulks continue to make @piquenews a fun place to work. It's been a privilege to cover Olympians, young breakout athletes, talented local artists as well as major events like @crankworx and the @whistlerwritersfestival over the last four years.

I had so much fun in Whistler at the SCI BC Adrenaline Weekend hosted with Whistler Adaptive a couple weeks ago 🎉

We mountain biked, paddle-boarded, kayaked, took the gondola, and got to socialize with peers that understand the challenges of living with a spinal cord injury.

Opportunities like this are few and far between and I am beyond grateful to both organizations for making it possible.

If you’re living with a spinal cord injury and traveling to Whistler BC, DEFINITELY reach out to @whistleradaptive — They run programming all year round (including sit-skiing in the winter) and make getting outdoors seem a lot less overwhelming.

Anddd if you live in BC and have a spinal cord injury, @sci_bc hosts events all year round (this being one of many), often free or very subsidized, that you should definitely check out!
