A big thank you to the @whistlerhealthcarefoundation for funding new safety equipment for @whistleradaptive

Thanks to their support we have purchased and installed two new AED machines - one at our Alta Lake Paddlesports Cabin (modelled here by coaches Eliska and Chloe) and one for our Jeff Harbers Adaptive Sports Centre on Whistler Mountain (installed by super-volunteer Doug!) - as well as eight new first aid kits.

Having the right safety equipment readily available means our coaches, volunteers and participants can enjoy our programs with greater peace of mind.

Thank you, Whistler Health Care Foundation, for helping us keep our community safe and supported!

We are all travelling together on this journey — Wi’la’mola

Last November, our team took part in @isparcbc Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) course, an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on Indigenous history, colonization, reconciliation and Indigenous participation in sport.

Shelley Milstein, our Director of Philanthropy, reflects on the experience:

“I would encourage anyone working in sport, who is looking to deepen their understanding of Indigenous history, colonization and reconciliation to explore I·SPARC’s Indigenous Cultural Safety course. Our team found the experience extraordinarily valuable and moving. It challenged us to listen, learn and reflect, while deepening our understanding of Indigenous participation in sport and the many Indigenous-led sports and competitions that exist across Canada.

@whistleradaptive, we believe that sport should be a place where everyone has the opportunity to participate, connect and belong. Continuing to learn about the experiences, histories and perspectives of Indigenous peoples is an important part of that work. This course gave our team an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to create a more welcoming, respectful and inclusive sport community.”

For organizations working in sport and recreation, I·SPARC’s Indigenous Cultural Safety course offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and consider how we can contribute to more welcoming, respectful and inclusive sport communities.

Learning is part of the journey.

Meet our Program Coordinator Bree and Coach Rowan👋

They’re both part of the @whistleradaptive team and this Saturday, they’re swapping their usual roles for a different kind of challenge.

They’re taking on @mindovermountain, an adventure race in Cumberland, competing in the 30KM category:

🛶 5KM paddle
🚵 15KM mountain bike
🥾 10KM trek

And they’re doing it to raise funds for Whistler Adaptive Sports Program.

As a charity, we work year-round to create opportunities for people with disabilities and neurodivergence to participate in sport and recreation. So while Rowan and Bree are taking on their own adventure, they’re helping make more adventures possible for others, too.

Want to support Rowan and Bree? Head to the link in our bio to make a donation. Every contribution helps. 💙

Let's go, Rowan & Bree! 👊

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part in Sunday’s @westsidewheelup 🚴‍♀️

A huge congratulations to everyone who got out there, took on the challenge and helped make this community event such a fantastic celebration of movement, adventure and connection.

We’re especially grateful that once again, Westside Wheel Up has chosen @whistleradaptive as the beneficiary of the event, with proceeds raised going towards our programs. 💙

As a charity, we fundraise year-round to help keep the cost of our programs as low as possible for families across the Sea to Sky. Community support like this helps us continue creating accessible opportunities for people with disabilities and neurodivergence to experience the life-changing benefits of sport and recreation.

And a massive thank you to everyone who made the day possible - participants, volunteers, families, friends, organisers, event sponsors and everyone cheering from the sidelines. We’re incredibly grateful for your energy, enthusiasm and support.

Thank you, Westside Wheel Up, for getting the community moving and helping make adventure more accessible for everyone! 🙌

The #amtb hype is real 🔊 and everyone is getting hooked including VP and COO of @whistlerblackcomb Belinda Trembath.

Here is what she had to say when she tried out our new @bowheadcorp Reach this summer at the @crankworx First Tracks Try-It-Day 🤘

"It was an incredible and humbling experience to spend time in a Bowhead, learning the features of the bike and taking a spin in a very controlled environment! The team from @whistleradaptive are caring and knowledgeable, which made the experience fun, and, most importantly, safe!"
