WHITE LABEL the definitive documentary on NYC rave origins and evolution.
🖤🎶🖤🎵🖤🎶🎵🖤🎶

The Black Kitty Blurb:
Founded by Amal Anaya Soliman and Tobin Ellsworth in Montpelier, Vermont, The Black Kitty is an independent fashion boutique built around individuality, self-expression and creative freedom. The Black Kitty was conceived in quiet rebellion against the idea that style must be singular, that you must choose one aesthetic, one “core,” or one box in order to belong. We reject the notion that fashion should flatten identity or force people into cliques. Instead, we believe fashion is an invitation to a party for one, where you get to express the many facets of who you are and what you feel on any given day.

Message of Support:
The Black Kitty is proud to support WHITE LABEL and the work being done to preserve the history, creativity, fashion and people behind underground dance music culture.
So much of what inspires us today, from rave and club fashion to the freedom of self-expression that exists on the dance floor — was built by independent artists, DJs, promoters, designers, club kids and communities who created something extraordinary long before the rest of the world caught on.
Those stories deserve to be documented, remembered and passed forward.
We’re excited to contribute to a project honoring the people who helped build the culture and making sure that history isn’t lost.
With love from The Black Kitty 🖤🎵🐈‍⬛

WHITE LABEL the definitive documentary on NYC rave origins and evolution.
🖤
Tobin Ellsworth is a DJ and producer with deep roots in underground house and electronic music culture. Over the years, he has been part of crews including Pink Mammoth and Housepitality and has performed extensively within the underground dance music scene, playing legendary parties like Doc Martin’s Sublevel and Miguel Mig’s Salted.

Tobin Ellsworth Message of support:
I’m honored and proud to support White Label and its mission to document the people, places and stories that built underground electronic music culture.
As a DJ and producer who has spent much of my life inside this community, I know how much of our culture exists because people created something simply because they lived for the music, the dance floor and each other, long before there was an industry built around it. It’s where I found who I am and the people I love the most.
Every generation of DJs inherits something from the people who came before us. Preserving those stories, especially from the pioneers who helped establish rave and club culture in New York, is vitaly important.

So much love and respect to Rosa, Jesse and everyone involved in taking the time to document this history properly so we can share it with generations to come. I’m so happy to support the project and help keep these stories alive.

Michael Fesco started the NYC gay men’s club FLAMINGO in 1975. He curated theme parties called #whiteparty and #blackparty there, and had his own weekly at Studio 54 for over 3 years. He still produces events for the gay community called SEA TEA cruises in NYC. He gave me a trip down memory lane in to the history of NYC nightlife, from Fire Island in the 60’s on... what a journey! All for our Docu @catherinehudon 😁🎶✨🌈💋 #clublife #flamingo #studio54 #seatea
