$The #philly underground hasn’t been this exciting in a minute. Here’s some of our favorite drops from this past month … @arconcepcion captivated me with her sound ever since I stumbled upon her song “What A Shame” last year. Her evolution has been amazing since then, and her new single “Room” is another helping of effortlessly soulful R&B. The production by @lukey.here provides a beat that is equal parts groovy and contemplative. It's the perfect soundtrack for her lyrics that demand better from a lover who might not be bringing out the best in her. The performance almost feels conversational, as she slips from nimble runs into talk-sung quips that melt back into melody by the end of the chorus. @tommusain released “Mend,” eleven tracks of lovesick, indie-tinged alt-R&B. Over spacey, dreamy guitars and gentle, steady drums, Tom croons melodies in a timbre that reminds me of old school Frank Ocean. “S.H.Y.T.O” “Dreams” and “P.Y.T” are my favorites, but definitely give the whole project a listen. It’s the perfect soundtrack to a lethargic morning following a late-night cry session. @idreamofgladys lifts up the mood with “outta reach,” an ode to leaving behind lovers who just can’t go the distance. The 2-step beat mixed with Gladys’ chart-topper voice and ear for melody make this an instant summer playlist add. If you're looking for a new pop girlie to obsess over, keep your eyes on Gladys because she's coming for the top. And finally, @realnicodavis reflects on lost love with his new single “Kickin’ It.” The influence he takes from artists like mk.gee is clear but morphed into a new direction that’s all his own. From the gentle production to the vocals that shift from the front to the background, this feels like a song taking place in his own internal monologue as he works up the courage to reveal his true feelings. Let us know how you feel, which songs you added, or just drop some CD emojis in the comments 💿💿💿 whatever works lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and hit that follow if u wanna hear more music from across the globe before everyone else. Y’all already know, side b is better 💿💞 luv y’all <3 . . . . . #phillymusic #newrnb #newindiemusic #音楽好きな人と繋がりたい$
