This simple ball-balancing activity is more than just play. In Occupational Therapy, it provides opportunities for children to practise bilateral coordination, visual tracking, motor control, hand stability, and graded movement while learning through hands-on experience.

Every attempt is an opportunity to practise, build confidence, and develop skills that support everyday activities. At Suryam Child Development Clinic, we use purposeful, play-based activities tailored to each child’s individual developmental needs.

When an everyday task becomes difficult

Imagine getting dressed becomes difficult after an illness. Here is a healthcare career that helps people participate in everyday activities.

Welcome to my series, Careers You Didn't Know Existed.

An occupational therapist helps people take part in daily activities when injury, illness or disability creates difficulties.
They assess what the person needs, plan activities, and may recommend changes to a home, school or workplace.

They can also work with families and other healthcare professionals.
'occupation' here isn't only about a job. It includes the activities of daily life.

The goal is independence and participation, not an overnight cure. The work can be demanding, and it takes real patience.

If you care about people, and you enjoy practical problem-solving, look into this career Know as occupational therapist.

Follow for more careers you didn't know existed.

Every child deserves to be heard, understood, and included.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) gives children who have difficulty speaking another way to express their needs, feelings, thoughts, and choices through communication boards, picture symbols, and speech-generating devices.

At Suryam Child Development Clinic, we believe communication is more than just spoken words. It’s about connection, confidence, independence, and giving every child a voice.
Keep your child’s AAC device within reach, charged, and available — during every therapy session, at home, at school, and everywhere in between.

Because every voice matters, and every child deserves to be heard.

In this colour-based catching activity, the child practises hand-eye coordination, visual attention, colour recognition, motor planning, and controlled arm movements.
Initially, the ball may fall, but with repetition, encouragement, and guided practice, the child gets more opportunities to learn and improve.
At Suryam Child Development Clinic, we believe every child deserves patience, encouragement, and the opportunity to keep trying. We celebrate not just successful attempts, but every little step towards progress.
Because every child deserves someone who believes in their potential.

Why Choose OT? Our students have plenty of reasons.

At this year’s CSH Fest, our students were out in full force advocating for our profession and sharing why OT is essential to community health, accessibility, and client-centered care.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to chat about our field and explore where a career in occupational therapy can take you!

The table is draped with a blue cloth and displays educational brochures, flyers, a blue balance disc, and sensory tools. In the upper-left corner of the frame is a red circular stamp badge reading “CSH FEST”
Bottom Photo: A large group of students gathers closely around the same blue-draped exhibit table in a brightly lit hallway, smiling at the camera. On the table, adaptive daily living equipment such as a reacher, long-handled sponge, and dressing stick is neatly arranged alongside brochures. In the bottom-right corner of the frame is a circular badge with text reading “WHY CHOOSE OT?” in yellow and white lettering.
