Finally mounted my bust of Jacob!

Sculpture is unavoidably confident. It takes up space, and it literally puts someone on a pedestal. There’s not much room to hide!

I’ve always been fascinated by portraiture in all its forms. I love how expressive it can be - how we see ourselves and how we want to be seen.

It’s a real test of observation, and then trying to make something that feels somehow vital or alive.

Wall of Colourful Pinch Pots is a celebration of joy, playfulness, and the emotional power of colour. Through the simple, tactile process of hand-building pinch pots, this work explores how colour can evoke memory and sensations, that can be personal aswell as universal.
Each pot is unique, carrying the marks of the hand that formed it and embodying a moment of spontaneous making. Gathered together on the wall, the individual vessels become a collective study of colour relationships and invites viewers to experience colour not only visually but emotionally.

By transforming a humble ceramic form into a vibrant field of colour, the work embraces imperfection and abundance. It is an exploration of colour as a language of feeling and a reminder of the small moments of spontaneity that make up our lives.

These are our new coffee cups.

Made for us, by hand, just down the road.

We worked with Wightman Studio @wightman.studio to design a cup specifically for how we make and serve coffee at Chater’s. No handle, by intention. Two sizes, for efficiency. Thrown to sit comfortably in the hand, to hold warmth, to stack neatly on the machine, and to made to last.

Each one is hand-thrown and glazed in Saffron Walden, in their studio and gallery. No two are quite the same, which we like.

We care a lot about the things you touch every day. Plates, glasses, cups. They’re part of the ritual, not an afterthought.

If you don’t know Wightman Studio, they’re well worth seeking out. We’re very proud to be using their work every morning.

Coffee tastes better when it’s held properly.
