Mixing slips ready for next weeks classes! Colour ie glazing process in ceramic is a beast of a different kind. Always mindful of firings and how heat reacts to what surface we place onto our clay surface!

If interested in joining a class please email Annabel on wightmanstudio@gmail.com or message here. We look forward to welcoming you.

Ian Wolter’s 2026 Sculpture retreat in his studio in France has been and gone too soon. The clay portrait of Sophie (model) are yet to be finished. Watch out for reviews from students about their experience. 👇

‘Wow what an amazing week… delicious breakfasts plein-air, mornings learning to sculpt, lunch and afternoons by the pool in the wonderful sunshine of the south of France, not forgetting the evening dinners, including Ian’s infamous paella, cooked over an open fire! This intimate group was just perfect company and Ian is such a patient teacher and host. The sun shining through into his beautiful studio, French jazz playing gently in the background and the morning stretching ahead learning the art of sculpting… what more could you wish for?’
Sally McGuire (student)

🧡 Creativity has no age limit!
These beautiful clay dominoes were made by one of our students in their 80s, working alongside pottery teacher Lucy Bromilow. 🎨👐

Learning a new craft later in life isn’t just about making something wonderful — it can also be a great way to keep the hands active, stimulate the brain, build confidence and curiosity, and create meaningful social connections. The process of learning, experimenting and problem-solving can help support cognitive engagement as we age.

And the best part? You’re never too old to have a go. ✨

Join Lucy for our taster pottery sessions every Wednesday morning at 9am — a lovely midweek opportunity to slow down, get creative and learn something new.

📩 To book a taster session, simply DM us here
