& the qi gong aunties are back

The thing about big feelings is that they’re big and overwhelming because we haven’t been with them for a while. Often years.

At some point, feeling them wasn’t safe. There was no one to hold us through them, so the body learned to shut them down. That was survival. It was genius at the time.

But the system doesn’t update on its own. It’s in place to keep you in familiar patterns; it doesn’t care about helping you build an alive life. So we walk around as adults still running the program of a child who learned that big feelings would cost them love, safety, or both.

When we finally co-create enough safety to feel, the dam opens. And yes, it’s a lot. Clients ask “will it feel like this forever?” Not too long ago, this was my voice too. It doesn’t. And what comes through the other side is worth every bit of it because feelings carry wisdom.

1. Take things a lot less personally and recover quickly from challenges

2. Ask for help a lot more frequently and notice where I am supported

3. Massive increase in self trust and agency

4. Greater presence cause I know I can be with whatever arises

5. Senses are much more heightened

6. A lot less reactive and more responsive

Ah g’wan then…

2025 was my year of Giving It A Go

-teaching yoga
-teaching drama
-shot my first short film
-voiced some audiobooks
-played THE ACTUAL LEGS inside the Euro coin on CMAT’s album
-took up the Bodhrán
-learned stand-up

You’re probably thinking ‘that’s too much’ and SURE, it probably was! I’m exhausted! This year has pushed me outside my comfort zone on NUMEROUS, self-inflicted occasions and it hasn’t always turned out the way I hoped. There have been many delays as as an impatient gal I’ve had to learn to trust the process about 1000 times and then a few more for good measure.

But I have seen more people come through for me then I thought possible. Family, friends and complete strangers have given me so much: helping me make my film or showing up to a comedy night or a yoga workshop or a play I’m in.

I was watching Its A Wonderful Life the other night and the angel Clarence writes to George (spoiler*)

‘No (wo)man is a failure who has friends.’

And this year I’ve discovered I have so many truly good ones. 🥰
