She is not getting older. She is getting more her.

More sure of what she wants. More done with what she does not. More beautiful in the way that only comes from living.

Tag the woman who proves it. Your mum, your sister, your friend, the one who makes you less afraid of the years ahead.

Let’s fill this comment section with her.

If you know me, you know I hate trends. I hate following the crowd. You will also know that I have a huge passion for the earth, the environment and its natural resources. You may also know that I really dislike technology, AI especially in the creative industries. So you may also have seen this AI trend of creating a picture of you in the 80s. One thing I am a huge fan of is nostalgia and advocating for the still photograph. So this 80s trend really irritated me in all the ways. Ironically most of the people I saw jumping on the trend actually existed in the 80s, just like I did. We don’t need AI to show us what we might have looked like then - we know! So I dig out the few pics I have of me from that decade to start my own trend (or not I don’t care). I’m the little one by the way ☺️. Swipe to the end to see my ‘Woofy’ who I still have in my bed every night.
If you want to see what you looked like, have a look through your old photos, go ask your Mum if you have to, I bet she would love to look at them too. Or recreate your own now - the 80s would have to be one of the easiest decades to play dress ups in and create something fun and unique. If you dig out an old photo let me know too I’d love to see it!

09/09 — our baby girl is officially one year old corrected ✨ although this date isn’t her birthday, it still feels special. It’s the date we had in our minds for so many months. One of the nurses in the NICU told us that she hadn’t seen a 33 weeker like Margot for a long time — she was almost acting like a full term babe. There’s a quiet determination about her that we’ve seen since the very beginning, even in those early hospital days. Happy One Year Margie Moo 💛🌸

(I listened to this song every night on the drive home from the hospital and mannnn it’s always going to take me right back there. Big feels)

They’re never just the dog. 🤎

They’re woven into the story of our families , the ordinary days, the big moments, the growing up, the coming home.

My dream of capturing dogs as part of your family story started over 20 years ago back in NYC.

Now, it’s part of my mission.

Because they belong in your photographs too.

They deserve to be remembered right there beside you, exactly where they’ve always been.

I feel so incredibly blessed that I get to capture them as part of the family.

Because imagine your life without them… 🥺

Happy International Dog Day to all the dogs who make a family feel even more like home.

You know the old way of mothering isn’t going to cut it anymore.

You can feel it.

The arguing.
The control.
The guilt trips.
The walking on eggshells.
The constant questioning of whether you’re getting it right.

You know you don’t want to parent your teenager the way you were parented.

You know you don’t want to lose connection just because she’s becoming more independent.

You can know the old way isn’t working without knowing what the new way looks like.

Because mothering a teenager asks something completely different from you.

It asks you to cross a threshold too.

From controlling → connecting.

From reacting → responding.

From parenting from your wounds → parenting from your embodied wisdom.

From needing to be right → becoming curious.

From gripping → trusting.

From trying to shape her → learning how to hold space for who she is becoming.

And no, this doesn’t mean becoming a permissive mother.

It means becoming a grounded mother.

One who can hold boundaries without breaking connection.

One who can stay rooted when her daughter is dysregulated.

One who can recognise when her own inner teenager is running the show.

One who can release the daughter she imagined enough to truly meet the daughter in front of her.

….suddenly you find yourself standing in the unknown.

Don’t rush to get out.

Welcome the threshold.

Let it unsettle you.

Let it reveal you.

Let it strip away the parts of motherhood you have outgrown.

Let yourself feel the grief of what is ending.

Let yourself feel the fear of what you cannot control.

Let yourself meet the parts of you that are asking to be seen.

Let it consume the old version of you.

Not so you disappear…

but so you can be born differently.

A mother who is more grounded.

More embodied.

More conscious.

More connected.

A mother who can hold her daughter without holding her back.

Don’t waste the threshold trying to get back to who you were.

Welcome it.

Let it transform you.

Let it birth you anew.

When did you last have proper family photos taken?

Not the posed, everyone-look-at-the-camera kind.

The real ones.

The way your children laugh together.

The hustle and bustle in the kitchen.

The cuddles on the couch. (Gosh I miss these)🥺

The dog’s tail that somehow manages to be in every single frame.🤭

I know what you’re thinking.
“We’ll do it when things calm down.”

But things never really calm down, do they?

The children keep growing way too fast for our liking.
The dog’s face gets a little greyer.

Life keeps moving, whether we are ready for it or not.

And honestly, this crazy chaotic season you are in right now?
That is the good stuff.

That is what you will miss.
That is what you will want to remember.

That is what these photographs are really for.

This September, I’m capturing 30 Perth families as part of The NOW Project.

No perfection required.

Just your people, your dog (if you have one), your favourite place and your life exactly as it is right now.

It’s on EARLYBIRD pricing for 6 more days. Comment NOW and I’ll send you the details.
