⭐️On the 3rd of October, we had held a triplet of most joyous, enriching, and educational volunteer days that October 2026 had ever seen. We dubbed this day of miracles… SUPER SATURDAY!

🪏We filled freshly dug ponds with wetland plants, explored the endlessly fascinating world of fungi, and celebrated the launch of one of our new sites! SUPER!

✨A massive thank you to everyone who joined! We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did!

🔗We’ve got plenty more events coming up this season - head to the link in our bio to see whats happening near you!

Free attention: Walking is an automatic task. Because you do not have to focus hard on every step, your attention is free to wander and spark new ideas. #therapy #mentalhealth #counselling #walkandtalk #walkandtalktherapy

What a fabulous day at @wilderdoddington ! Our year 4 children have found out all about rewilding! We were in awe as the buzzards soared above us, we excitedly discovered a huge range of pond life and we soaked up nature by slowing down amongst the trees. A valuable day in the great outdoors!

The GCSE in Natural History is at a crucial phase. How it will be designed is being finalised. Here are my thoughts.

Common British wildlife such as butterflies, swallow or frogs, for example,
are often now seen through the lens of a problem - climate change, pollution, declining populations, changing land use. Before we have even looked closely at them as individual creatures, they have become evidence of something going wrong.

Those problems are real. But they aren’t the whole story. We risk losing sight of the creature itself; a whole, beautiful, fascinating being, with its own life to lead.

Recently, I met Matthew Capper, who leads a Young Rewilders club at Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire. He told me that most young people arrive as environmentalists rather than naturalists. They care deeply, but carry anxiety about the planet.

It takes time for them to settle, look closely and become absorbed in the wildlife around them. But when they do, he describes a remarkable transformation. Where there had been so much worry, there is enchantment and fascination. They discover the joy of knowing lives different from their own.

That has been my vision for the GCSE in Natural History from day one.

Species are like sparkling jewels scattered across the landscape. Each has a story to tell about how it feeds, where it travels, how it survives the winter, what it needs from the lives around it.

When we stop to watch, listen and learn, the world becomes a place of relationship, love and wonder. This takes time, effort and dedication. Young people deserve that time.

The problems remain, of course. But we meet them with greater understanding, and with something precious to care for.

Wonder draws us into attention.
Attention deepens our knowledge.
And knowledge helps us make better decisions.

Let’s keep wildlife at the heart of the GCSE in Natural History because fascination and joy come first, care for the earth follows naturally.

A closer look at the Wild House at @doddingtonhall .

Set within the @wilderdoddington landscape, the building brings together natural materials, considered detailing and Passivhaus Premium performance in a design that feels completely at home in its surroundings.

A standout example of what low-carbon architecture can look like in practice.

A few of the Stokes team visited Doddington Hall last week for a rewilding safari! 🌿

We got a closer look at Wilder Doddington, a 100-year rewilding journey with a broader 400-year vision for nature recovery, bringing nature back to 770 hectares of Lincolnshire landscape.

By stepping back from farming and letting “ecosystem engineers” (like Lincoln Red cattle and Exmoor ponies) shape the land, wild habitats and wetlands are naturally coming back to life.

Needless to say we ended our safari with a fresh brew of Stokes coffee at The Grain Store ☕️
