🚨 Hank has been waiting for 659 days. 🚨

Many dogs don’t get the opportunity of time, but thanks to a dedicated volunteer in rural Kentucky, Holly has been advocating for Hank, and he has become a part of our pack.

The only thing Hank needs now is a dedicated Chicago-based foster so he can begin his heartworm treatment.

Hank is dog-friendly, loves people, and is eager to learn with the help of treats. Heartworm is not contagious, as it was transmitted to him through mosquito bites, so he can be around other dogs while undergoing treatment.

Hank was one of the last dogs our dearly missed team member Amanda (@wildscallion )was working to bring into our program. Let’s get Hank to Chicago!

⭐️ Foster Needed for Hank! ⭐️

Hank is one of the last dogs our beloved pack member, Amanda @wildscallion , was trying to pull from rural Kentucky. She was always helping underdogs - here in Chicago and beyond.

This is a part of the country where most dogs don’t make it out of the shelter. They live outside 365 days a year in all types of weather. The resources are so limited that volunteers spend their own money to feed the dogs and get them toys.

One of these dogs is Hank. Holly is Hank’s biggest fan and has been fostering Hank for us from afar, but we need to get Hank up to Chicago to begin his heart worm treatment asap.

Heart worm is not contagious between dogs, as it happens when dogs get bit by mosquitos. It is completely preventable (reminder to give your pups their monthly preventatives!), and thankfully there is treatment for it, but Hank needs a soft spot to land while he recovers.

Hank is dog friendly, loves to play fetch and tug, and absolutely loves people. Holly says he “backs it up” to sit on your feet. 🥹

Friends, PLEASE share Hank. We want to begin his HW treatment as soon as possible, but we need a dedicated foster here in Chicago to do so.

We make the crazy, and seemingly impossible things happen because of you.

Our foster app is also on our website. We provide all supplies and daily support.

Let’s go, Chicago! 💛

Promise kept 💛 help us officially welcome Hank to our pack.

Hank was one of the last dogs Amanda was working to pull down in rural Kentucky. With that, we couldn’t get this handsome noggin off our minds. One of the dedicated volunteers down in KY that has been advocating for Hank stepped up willing to be his foster.

Hank is a glass half full, happy go lucky, good toys and yummy treats kind of guy. Help us find a loving home for Hank by sharing this post.

Hank is from an area of the country where most dogs don’t make it out. We are able to commit to Hank thanks to our monthly supporters, knowing we can get him the medical care and vetting he needs.

It takes a pack to make a pack. Thanks for being a part of our mission, and if you’d like to learn more and join us, click the link in our bio. 💫

Hanks here to remind you that every dollar does make a difference. Thanks for rooting for the underdogs in Chicago and beyond.

Amanda Onion impacted so many lives on four and two legs. She was a tireless advocate for the underdogs (and cats!)

One of the last dogs we were messaging about was Hank in Kentucky.

Hank has been at a rural shelter for almost 2 years in a 3x5 pen. He’s lived through extreme heat, frigid cold, and still has a smile on his face.

The volunteers at the shelter love him and reached out to us to see if we can help him start a new chapter here in Chicago. He’s dog friendly, but no cats. He loves taking car rides, cuddling, and would love a couch and lap to call his own. He recently got neutered, but is heart worm positive and would need to undergo treatment that MCP would take care of.

Help us find a foster for Hank. Like, comment, and share the is post or better yet, apply to become a foster on our website.

MCP Rescue suffered an unimaginable loss this past weekend when part of their heart and soul of the rescue passed away unexpectedly. Please consider a donation to this amazing rescue where got Norm (formerly Ripley) from in honor of Amanda Onion and the huge impact she had in the rescue world 💔 @mcprescuepack

❤️❤️Frederika❤️❤️ Belle❤️❤️ I’m so excited for my summer plans, but so sad that means means my time with Belle and Fredericka is almost up. These two ladies were rescued in Mexico by @mcprescuepack. Whoever ends up opening their homes to these precious pups will be so lucky to have them. If I could, I’d let them run my house forever.

Chiefa.

Chiefa was a girl that stood out amongst the fear of change.

As other dogs wanted to climb as far back into their crates as possible and disappear, Chiefa looked me in the eye, and sang to me.

She sang me a song of her people, and excused their scared states. She sang me her excitement and gratitude for giving them a chance of life. A life that offers clean water, and a soft place to rest. A life of friendship out from under a constant gloom of death.

Chiefa is an old soul and has many tales to tell.

Chiefa is the type of being you would trust with your parents, your children and neighbors.

Chiefa is the one that you want to call your family, because she understands more than most and brings in a factor of magic that cannot be undone.

Chiefa is 3 yo, perfectly smol but big at 42lbs.

Chiefa is the comfort of an old book.
She is the poetic dance of air while your favorite meal is being prepared.
She is the rainbow after the storm.
She is heart that always flows, and hand that never lets go.

We cannot wait till someone celebrates her birthday and tells her they love her.

Someone please foster this magnificent girl!

$5 Medical Monday

Real talk: we are drowning in medical bills.

We were asked to step in to help this Roatan mission and we are proud to be part of such a victorious mission in lives saved, and a part of history.

We that being said, throughout this entire ordeal, we continue to bear the weight of our own country falling apart. As you know our pulse beats local.

It's our own problem, sure, and we continue to step us for our local dogs no different.

The difference is our own anxiety, workload of course.

We've lost followers and donors. We have had people share their feelings, and put us down for this effort.

We were expecting financial help from sources specifically for this effort, and unfortunately that never happened.

We have even given $10k of our own money towards this effort in whole, meaning to dogs that didn't even come to MCP. Our initial role was to only be logistics and to bring in dogs, help place them and it ended up being something way more than what we ever expected.

Even though these dogs came in vetted through the CDC, we are providing them with MCP quality vetting. This means full bloodwork, vaccines omitted, botched spays, major dentals, and as you may know, major ER and speciality battles.

We want to set these dogs, as all of our dogs up for ultimate success and that includes being sound medically.

Our integrity does not sway.

We further took an additional 16 dogs that no one wanted, and time was up on the island. As more dogs are showing up heartworm positive and in need of further medical one way or another, we are looking at massive spending and counting for these dogs.

We have also really tried not to burden our community, with this in asking for donations specifically for these dogs— but here we are.

We are asking for help.

We just made $17,000 in vet payments that just posted this weekend. Our credit card bill is currently at $29k. Today will cost about $2k and we owe Shelter Vet about $7k right now.

Every $1 does make a difference.
Everything we do is possible because of teamwork.

Please consider a $1 or $5
