Just got my Thanksgiving pies delivered from @kennedycathostel with all the fixins (cardamom whipped cream and homemade vanilla gelato). Boots was found injured and alone in the middle of a road while deliveries were being made for @rawsome.pets. We don’t yet know what’s wrong with his paw, but he definitely needs some help. @mcprescuepack is primarily a dog rescue, but they certainly weren’t going to turn away an injured kitten. We aren’t sure if his paw is broken or fractured, or if there’s something else going on. He doesn’t appear to have any other injuries, which is a huge relief. Despite the fact that this tiny baby is injured & in pain, and only able to walk on 3 legs, he’s still the sweetest, happiest little boy. He was so grateful to be scooped up off that lonely road. Please help Boots by making a small donation to MCP Rescue & Outreach towards his care. It might not seem worthwhile to donate a single dollar or two, but it absolutely is. Meet SuzyQ & Patches, the beagle mix (17lbs) and white hound mix (25lbs) respectively! We are looking for fosters for these adorable 5 month puppies (not related). They are both coming to Chicago on Sunday (3/19) from our friends in KY since they found themselves at a tiny rural shelter with only 5 kennels. Needless to say, it’s full! These 2 cuties are both phenomenal with everyone and everything, humans; big and small, other dogs, and even cats (slow intros just due to playfulness). Our fosters get first dibs to adopt. These kiddos will not last long. They just need a soft place to land. We will supply leash, collar, food, crate if needed, and of course, all medical. Whichever dog you can foster will be brought to you directly on Sunday with supplies, late afternoon/early evening. Please help if you can. The Plea of 2 Very Special Boys: While most of our requests are to help dogs in the shelter that were unwanted, abandoned, sick or abused, this situation is completely heartbreaking for another reason entirely. These 2 somewhat senior boys (7/8 & 11/12) were extremely loved and well cared for by their Mother. In fact, it was her that surrendered them herself before the dementia took over her so much that she might harm them. When she brought them in, she asked for “her children to be taken care of” for her since she was no longer able. Giving up someone you love before you get so sick you might hurt them shows just how deeply this Mama cared for her boys. They are cared for at the shelter, but they are sad. Luckily, they have each other. The shelter was going to have to separate them, so we committed to taking them in order to avoid that from happening. They are fully vetted, dentals and all, and it is time for them to leave. We need a foster right away. They are not your typical howling beagles. They are quiet, calm and just super sweet. All they need is a person to love them and care for them, a nice walk, and a soft bed. They are pretty low maintenance. As I said, most of our stories break your heart because of where the dogs came from and what they’ve been through. With these 2 sweet boys, it breaks our hearts because they lost their very special Mother who loved them so much, she had to let them go.
