Myth: tigers used for entertainment in tourist attractions are stolen from the wild. Fact: tigers in unregulated private facilities are bred in captivity. While some wild tigers do end up in captivity in India, they are not used as tourist props. This practice ensures the safety of local communities. It is an unfortunate reality, and there is no better alternative at the moment. 🐯 Follow me for more nuanced and factual info about tigers and conservation There was a mistake in the last part of the video where the audio says, "places that allow tourists to get in physical contact with tourists are still a problem." The second 'tourists' should say tigers. #tigers #tigerking #tigersinthewild #mythbusting #captivity #tourism #selfie #socialmedia #ethicaltravel #responsibletravel #travel #bigcats #wildlifetrade #wildlife #protectnature #nature #wildlifecrime #science #sciencepolicy #conservation #zoo #sanctuary #rescuecenter

Unethical tiger tourism isn't just dangerous for people. It provides profits and incentives to entertainment facilities to breed tigers outside of regulation or oversight and without any contribution to conservation. Well-managed captive tigers at accredited facillties can contribute to conservation by providing a source of genetic diversity for genetic rescue of wild tiger populations. #tigersinthewild #captivity #entertainment #thailand #socialmedia #wildlifetrade #wildlifecrime #ethical #responsibletravel #ethicaltravel #tourism #experience #asia #bigcats #wildlife #protectnature #breeding #zoo #rescuecenter #tigerking

🫶🏼 If you know me, you should know @wildtigerorg I haven't been the best at sharing our work and impact recently, a lot of that had to do with finishing my PhD and taking some much-needed time to reflect on how to restructure and refocus our efforts for greater impact in tiger conservation. I’ve got an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more updates with you. Putting this timeline of highlights together was a great chance to reflect on what all we have accomplished. Thanks to all the volunteers who have been part of Wild Tiger over the years! 🐅 Wild Tiger started from humble beginnings in 2015, and our actions today are driven by evidence that shows how to best conserve tigers and their landscapes. Over the past 10 years, we’ve provided vital support to communities living alongside tigers, conducted groundbreaking research on the international wildlife trade, and equipped conservationists in India with essential tools like camera traps. We've also mentored students worldwide to protect biodiversity. Our journey is far from over—let’s continue exploring new frontiers in conservation together! 🚀 #conservation #nonprofit #founder #biodiversity #womanleadership #leader #wildlife #nature #wildtiger #tigersinthewild #tiger #bigcats #science #research #sciencecommunication #sciencepolicy #conservationcareer #coexistence #community #volunteer #passion #purpose #phdlife #womeninscience #stem
