Everything tigers & more šŸ… travel to see tigers and the communities who live alongside through our curated experiences

🚩 Breeding white tigers and hybrid animals called ligers and tigons in captivity has no conservation value. It is done purely for entertainment and profit.

āœ…ļø The only ethical place to see these animals is at accredited animal sanctuaries or rescue centers. These facilities do not breed white tigers or hybrid animals.

šŸ… Wild Tiger started from humble beginnings in 2015.

Our actions today are driven by evidence that shows how to best conserve tigers and their landscapes. On social media, we're here to spark curiosity about tiger conservation.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve provided vital support to communities living alongside tigers, conducted groundbreaking research on the international wildlife trade, and equipped conservationists in India with essential tools like camera traps. We've also mentored students worldwide to protect biodiversity.

Our journey is far from over—let’s continue exploring new frontiers in conservation together! šŸš€

What happened at Yorkshire Wildlife Park was a tragedy for the deceased man, his family, and everyone involved. Also, language matters. Labeling this fatal accident as a ā€œtiger attackā€ demonizes an animal that unexpectedly encountered a human in its enclosure.

The conservation community has asked the media repeatedly to use more neutral and factual language when discussing human-wildlife conflict. Though this accident took place in a captive animal facility, the guidelines are still applicable. by @wildtigerorg

My thoughts on the tragic accident at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, a zoo accredited by the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but incidents like these are common. My first question is always, is there a conservation purpose for that captive tiger? If a tiger is not rescued or not part of a recognized and coordinated conservation breeding program, then that tiger is being exploited. by @wildtigerorg

Have you ever gone to Kanha Tiger Reserve and learned to paint from a famous Gond artist, ate a meal prepared by and at a Gond family’s house, did yoga on the dry riverbed, harvested mahua, stayed at a sustainable homestay, or gazed at stars with a new appreciation of astronomy?

These are some of the unforgettable things I did at the first @vann.vibe slow living retreat… and they’re doing it again July 24-27!

šŸ‘€ me waiting to hear from the tourism is conservation crowd

To be fair, there are people and businesses in the tourism industry (šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ me) who are part of a new type of slow and conscious travel. If you’re traveling to see tigers this year, do it with people who genuinely work towards being more socially and environmentally responsible.

That being said, the solutions for improving tourism won’t only come from a handful of people aiming towards more sustainable and ethical tiger tourism. by @wildtigerorg

A MUST visit the next time you’re in Kanha Tiger Reserve!

I’ll never forget the afternoon I spent at the Baherakhar craft center. Rarely do visitors to Kanha Tiger Reserve have an opportunity to interact with the women who live there or make their own souvenir. ✨Importantly, the craft center does a lot more than provide memories and souvenirs to tourists.

Wildlife conservation isn’t just about 🌳 plants and šŸ… animals, it’s also about the communities who share space and have relationships with this wildlife. Learning from PashooPakshee’s artisans through a workshop is a meaningful and ethical way to engage with Kanha Tiger Reserve’s communities. Purchasing their souvenirs makes it possible for them to continue operating the craft center independently and get a sustained income.

Here’s how to plan a visit:
Step 1: Make time in your schedule
The center is open to visitors from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Step 2: Visit the center
The center is about 20 minutes from Mukki Gate, located in the buffer zone

Step 3: Book a workshop
Don’t just buy a responsible souvenir. If possible, do a workshop for a much deeper understanding of the craft and the people behind it. You can book a workshop directly at the center or pre-schedule by DMing or calling (8104274656) @pashoopakshee directly. taken in Kanha Tiger Reserve by @wildtigerorg

After the first few steps, as the bottom of my feet adjusted to the leathery, dried leaves of sal (Shorea robusta), my fear melted away. It turned into curiosity. How, after 10 years of visiting central India’s forests, did I never feel this ground? And, what am I finally able to feel now?

We’ve been told since childhood to be careful of the forest’s ā€œcreepy crawliesā€ and conditioned by society to view our bodies and spirits as separate from nature. This moment chiseled away at that.

For the next hour, I felt joy. Also a bit of sadness as I let go of some difficult recent times. The trees told me to be patient and have courage.

Thanks for guiding my first forest bath @rushant.dhanwatay, I’ll never forget it. by @wildtigerorg
