@chefchaipacifica does it again! With 30+ food stations, silent auction, and live music including Robert Cazimero, @tavanaofficial & @jakeshimabukuro, it’s impossible to capture everything we enjoyed at tonight’s #ChefsForHope fundraiser for Maui wildfire relief. The food was incredible! Chefs from all over Hawai’i — even some we haven’t seen in years — came together to help make this event a success. Mahalo to everyone for their hard work!

So this just happened. @chefkitty68 brought me an ice cream sando at @obakehonolulu with a savory kurogoma cookie filled with @doublefaticecream honey furikake ice cream. And called me Miz Chang. Now that’s how you do Tuesday night!

July 6 is #NationalFriedChickenDay so to celebrate, @doublefaticecream is dropping its newest flavor, #FriedChicken & #Waffles ice cream! It’s got bits of fried chicken skin and #glutenfree mochi waffles in maple ice cream. Sweet & salty goodness!! I got a #SneakPeek tonight - brought my own drumstick for effect.

*Does not include chicken drumstick!!

I’ve been wanting to try @doublefaticecream for some time now, and my third review of @labettola808 @alohilaniresort gave me the perfect opportunity to try this shop located in a truncated shipping container. Its name comes from a Cantonese play on words referencing the fortuitous number 88. I proceeded to this hidden spot up an unassuming ramp to what seemed like a service area and discovered it alongside a food “bus” @piccolaondahi

There were so many inspiring creations crafted by the brilliant @orangelement with Hawaii’s culinary stud @willchen79 providing conceptual inspirations and management. I was pleased with my initial bites of the Cornbread & Blues with a delightful blueberried jamminess contrasting the slightly savory base. I was even more elated after savoring the Salted Caramel Banana, a salted-sweet expression of blissfully creamy proportions.

Then I tried the Crack Seed Delight, a nostalgic concoction that appealed to my inner child. The sundae played with frozen flavors of strawberry and cream enveloping a contrasting textural mochi crunch, all dusted by the sweet, salty, and savory li hing powder.

Heading back, we were baffled why tourists would line up at Haagen-Dazs when they could experience local artisanal ice cream just a few steps away. I hope more word gets out about this concealed gem. Looking optimistically, I guess if I tried here a year ago, I would be doubly fat (albeit doubly happy) by now. Thank you @willchen79 for your kind hospitality!

Hitting up @doublefaticecream for their Crack Seed Delight (strawberry ice cream, sweet cream ice cream, mochi crunch, condensed milk, li hing powder & d/f whip). Double of what I planned to get but was so good, I devour the entire thing.
