Running along the coast feeling like a kid let loose for summer 🍭🌞 1st place in 8:23 🥇

A team of four of us bunked off school and made charge. In my early haste i lost my headphones thrown into a bush somewhere on a Dorset road.

If the first 50k was the start of Summer, km 60 marked the heatwave as @arunnerssi put down the gas. Each race you put into practice new learnings and this time it was to hold tight, cover the move, be patient.

We reached the lollipop circuit of the route back on the coast and as i felt the tempo dip slightly it felt right to take a swing. It just then needed the follow through.

A super fun and competitive race, beautiful course and amazing organisation from Maverick, plus a pot of gold at the end. This was also my first race repping Kailas Fuga. So proud and humbled to join a team of amazing British trail runners. The vest for me is a huge upgrade on my previous fit and the Ex330s powered me home and kept me firmly planted.

Now, time for some hibernating 🐻

52km X-Trail Jurassic Coast Ultra with @maverickrace

Last year I completed a 110km race and felt a bit like I didn’t need to challenge myself again for a long time - part of me had mentally copped out of running. I kinda signed up to this race with gritted teeth and lowkey shelved it in my mind.

As this race approached, I wanted to do myself proud more than anything else. I’ve done a few 50km distances now but they’ve always been a bit of a struggle but ultimately I knew going into this I am more than capable of completing this distance. This time, I wanted to get the job done comfortably and faster than previous efforts.

This is the first ultra I’ve felt strong, quick and confident in myself - I needed that after a very slow previous race. I maintained a good pace, I was in and out of aid stations and got to the finish line in a time I’m pleased with. Most importantly i’ve come away from this race with a newfound love for endurance challenges and I can’t wait to go again.

big up @sums_club for the race place

I ran cross country at school but was too busy surfing, rowing, kissing boys and getting drunk to realise I was actually quite good at it.

Then I pretty much stopped running altogether, although I played football on and off for 20 years. I found running again when I moved to London in 2018. Parkrun became my friend in a big, lonely city.

And somewhere along the way, running became something I really needed. These days, if I don’t run, I get a bit lost.

Anyway, thanks @whirlwindsports for the gait analysis and for teaching me a thing or two about my feet.

More support it is.🫡

[this pair of shoes were #gifted but the previous two pairs I bought weren’t, support your local sports shop and don’t buy from mega chains that invest in Israeli arms thank you please 🕊️🫶🏼)
